Healthcare workers are commonly the victims of workplace violence. Implementing a violence risk assessment can provide a consistent standard for evaluation of potential  violence, minimizing the opportunity for misinterpretation. Reduction in events of violence can be cost-effective, enhance patient and staff safety, and improve patient outcomes. The High Cost of Chief Nursing Officer  Turnover
At the recent AONL conference, research was presented about chief nursing officer (CNO) turnover. Unsurprisingly, involuntary and voluntary turnover is closely linked to relationships with the chief executive officer (CEO).1 The “chemistry” between individuals in these 2 roles has been cited as being crucially important. In today’s environment, many CNOs have also anecdotally reported being held accountable for staffing costs that are often not in their control. There is lots of finger-pointing in the C-suite as healt h systems experience bond downgrades and financial challenges. (Source: Nurse Leader)
