Early Intraventricular Antibiotic Therapy Improved In-Hospital-Mortality in Neurocritical Patients with Multidrug-Resistant Bacterial Nosocomial Meningitis and Ventriculitis
ConclusionsEarly IVT antibiotics were associated with superior outcomes in terms of the in-hospital mortality rate, time to CSF sterilization, and CSF sterilization rate compared with delayed IVT antibiotics and intravenous antibiotics alone. (Source: Neurocritical Care)

Minimizing Shivering During Targeted Normothermia: Comparison Between Novel Transnasal and Surface Temperature-Modulating Devices
ConclusionsA transnasal cooling approach achieved similar time to normothermia and temperature burden with less shivering than surface cooling. This approach may be a feasible option to consider for mechanically ventilated febrile neurocritical care patients. (Source: Neurocritical Care)

Stellate Ganglion Block and Intraarterial Spasmolysis in Patients with Cerebral Vasospasm: A Retrospective Cohort Study
ConclusionsStellate ganglion block and IAS decreased CBFV the following 24  h in patients with CV. We suggest SGB alone for patients with mild symptomatic CV (CBFV <  180 cm/s), while subsequent escalation to IAS proved to be beneficial in patients with refractory CV and severe CBFV elevation (CBFV ≥ 180 cm/s). Outcomes After Decompressive Surgery for Severe Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis Associated or Not Associated with Vaccine-Induced Immune Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia: A Multicenter Cohort Study
ConclusionsAlthough the prediction of individual courses remains challenging, DS should be considered early in VITT-associated CVST because an overall favorable outcome appears achievable in these patients. (Source: Neurocritical Care)

Fit for Service: Preparing Residents for Neurointensive Care with Entrustable Professional Activities: A Delphi Study
ConclusionsUsing a multistep Delphi process, we defined and established validity evidence for seven EPAs for neurointensive medicine with a high degree of consensus to objectively describe readiness for on-call duty in neurointensive care. This operationalization of pivotal clinical tasks may help to better train clinical residents in neurointensive care across sites and health care systems and has the potential to serve as a blueprint for training in general intensive care medicine. It also represents a starting point for further research and development of medical curricula. (Source: Neurocritical Care)

Delayed Deterioration of Electroencephalogram in Patients with Cardiac Arrest: A Cohort Study
ConclusionsDelayed EEG deterioration was associated with high mortality rate. Epileptic deterioration was associated with worse characteristics of CA, whereas background deterioration was associated with shock and multiple organ failure. (Source: Neurocritical Care)

Pediatric Moyamoya Revascularization Perioperative Care: A Modified Delphi Study
ConclusionsIn the absence of data supporting specific care practices before and after indirect revascularization surgery in children with moyamoya, this Delphi process defined areas of consensus among neurosurgeons, neurologists, and intensivists with moyamoya expertise. Research priorities identified include determining the role of continuous electroencephalography in postoperative moyamoya care, optimal perioperative blood pressure and hemoglobin targets, and the role of supplemental oxygen for treatment of suspected postoperative ischemia. Characteristics and Outcomes of Children with Cerebral Sinus Venous Thrombosis
ConclusionsCSVT, which has a U-shaped age distribution, is an uncommon condition in children. Stroke is common in children with CSVT, and it is associated with an increased need for mechanical ventilation and increased mortality. The need for mechanical ventilation is more common in infants, and it is associated with increased mortality across all age groups. (Source: Neurocritical Care)
