Reinke ’s Edema: New Insights into Voice Analysis, a Retrospective Study
Reinke's edema (RE) is a pathological condition involving increased volume of the vocal folds and resulting in significant impact on speech, fundamental frequency, and vocal range. Literature reports few studies which analyze vocal features according to the severity of RE. The aims of this study were to investigate the aerodynamics, acoustic characteristics, and sound spectrograms of a group of RE patients and to assess whether there was any correlation with their endoscopic grading. Auditory-Motor Function Pre- and Post-Therapy in Hyperfunctional Voice Disorders: A Case Series
Behavioral voice therapy is the most common treatment for hyperfunctional voice disorders (HVDs) but has limited long-term effectiveness since the comprehensive mechanisms underlying HVDs remain unclear. Recent work has implicated disordered sensorimotor integration during speech in some speakers with HVDs and suggests that auditory processing is a key factor to consider in HVD assessment and therapy. The purpose of this case-series study was to assess whether current voice therapy approaches for HVDs resulted in improvements to auditory-motor function. (Source: Journal of Voice)

Cross-Linguistic Adaptation of Vocal Fatigue Handicap Questionnaire into Kannada (VFHQ-K)
It is often considered appropriate to assess vocal fatigue using a self-reported tool or a subjective measure, as vocal fatigue is primarily described through self-reported symptoms. The vocal fatigue handicap questionnaire (VFHQ) is a self-rated questionnaire that addresses the concern of vocal fatigue in persons with voice disorders. Adapting and validating this questionnaire into the Kannada language can be helpful in assessing the physical, emotional, and functional effects of vocal fatigue among Kannada-speaking individuals. Articulatory and Phonatory Precision When Singing Staccato at Different Speeds
Vocal tract adjustments are important for resonatory modification of the voice and also with respect to interactions concerning the voice source production. It is not clear, however, how fast, separated notes (staccato) influence vocal tract adjustments. (Source: Journal of Voice)

Efficacy of the Grit Scale Score in Predicting Voice Therapy Adherence and Outcomes
Voice therapy generally is considered first-line treatment for dysphonia and vocal fold paresis. It requires a commitment of time, effort and resources; currently, there is no good indicator to identify which patients are good candidates for voice therapy. The Grit scale, developed by  psychologist Angela Duckworth, provides a method to quantify perseverance and commitment to long-term goals. (Source: Journal of Voice)

Gluten Sensitivity Underlying Resistant “Laryngopharyngeal Reflux” Symptoms and Signs
Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) is one of the most common conditions encountered in otolaryngology. Gluten sensitivity may mimic the signs and symptoms of LPR or act as an aggravating cofactor with LPR. Gluten sensitivity and food intolerance also have been implicated as conditions that may be associated specifically with LPR symptoms and signs resistant to traditional medical treatment. Medical management of LPR may be insufficient to control symptoms and laryngeal signs of reflux, constituting resistant LPR. (Source: Journal of Voice)

Voice Disorder Classifications: A Scoping Review —Part B
The terminology and classification of voice disorders are complex topics. For this reason, developing a consensus in the scientific community regarding such a topic would bring a wide range of benefits to this field of study. The study is originally divided into parts A and B, and part A explored general propositions of voice disorder classification systems. Now, Part B of this study explores the classification of voice disorders in specific conditions and diagnoses. A scoping review was performed after an electronic and manual search, resulting in the inclusion of 20 studies in Part B. (Source: Journal of Voice)
