Deep Learning-Based Analysis of Glottal Attack and Offset Times in Adductor Laryngeal Dystonia
Diagnosis of adductor laryngeal dystonia (AdLD) is challenging as it mimics voice features of other voice disorders. This could lead to misdiagnosis (or delayed diagnosis) and ineffective treatments of AdLD. This paper develops automated measurements of glottal attack time (GAT) and glottal offset time (GOT) from high-speed videoendoscopy (HSV) in connected speech as objective measures that can potentially facilitate the diagnosis of this disorder in the future. Type 1 Thyroplasty for Chronic Cough
Type 1 thyroplasty is a vital component of treatment for vocal fold hypomobility, immobility, and atrophy. However, patients with other laryngeal symptoms, including chronic cough, can have concomitant vocal fold atrophy and glottic insufficiency on the exam. Previous work has demonstrated that injection laryngoplasty can assist with treating cough in patients with glottic insufficiency. However, the role of type 1 thyroplasty for cough has not been well described. (Source: Journal of Voice)

Acoustic Characteristics of Voice in Teachers and Nonteachers
Teachers are professional voice users, and the vocal demands in the teaching profession can be considered unique. All teachers will wish to possess a voluminous, strongly-carrying voice that can be maintained for a prolonged time. This necessitated the need to understand and document the voice-acoustic characteristics of teachers. (Source: Journal of Voice)

Complications and Functional Voice Limitations Following Gender-Affirming Laryngeal Surgery (GALS)
Gender-affirming laryngeal surgery (GALS) procedures are effective, with high rates of patient satisfaction following endoscopic vocal fold shortening (glottoplasty) or chondrolaryngoplasty. Despite this, complications and functional limitations in voice use following GALS are not well described. The current study aims to visually characterize the clinical and laryngoscopic features of complications following GALS. (Source: Journal of Voice)

Development and Psychometric Evaluation of the Laryngeal Palpation Pain Scale (LPPS)
One of the most important assessment and therapy methods for patients with muscle tension dysphonia (MTD) and other voice disorders is laryngeal palpation. However, there is no comprehensive scale for measuring pain during laryngeal palpation. The goal of the present study was to develop and validate a new scale to evaluate pain during palpation for patients with MTD. (Source: Journal of Voice)

A Comparison of the Effects of Phonation into a Positive Expiratory Pressure Device and Silicone Tube in Water on the Vocal Mechanism
Positive expiratory pressure (PEP) devices have become an additional therapeutic approach for treating voice disorders. Similar to water resistance therapy (WRT), phonation in a PEP device introduces a secondary source of vibration within the vocal tract. This investigation aimed to compare the effects of phonation using a PEP device and silicone tube phonation (STP) commonly used in WRT on the vocal mechanism during phonation. The Role of the Vocal Tract's Acousto-Mechanical Resonance on the Mechanism of Bubble Release From Tubes Used in SOVTE
Semi-occluded vocal tract exercises involving a tube with a distal end immersed in water have been used as a voice rehabilitation technique for nearly 60 years. Advantages of this technique include a constant flow resistance, which is mainly dependent on the tube ’s immersion depth, and an oscillatory component of the back pressure due to bubble release, which is assumed to provide relief of muscle hypertension around the laryngeal and pharyngeal regions. The goal of this study is twofold. First, to shed more light on the contribution of geometrical parame ters, such as tube inner diameter and inclination, on the amplitu...
