Relationships Between Vocal Fold Adduction Patterns, Vocal Acoustic Quality, and Vocal Effort in Individuals With and Without Hyperfunctional Voice Disorders
Increased vocal effort and aberrant vocal quality are often attributed to vocal fold hyperadduction in hyperfunctional voice disorders. However, there are currently no established methods to quantify vocal fold adduction beyond subjective descriptors in this clinical population. Furthermore, relationships between vocal fold adduction patterns, vocal effort severity, and vocal quality are not well characterized. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to (1) quantify vocal fold adduction, applying a previously validated method developed for patients with vocal fold paralysis, and (2) correlate these measures with acous...

Associations of Postural Activities and Knowledge for Voice with Breathing Issues and Voice-Physical-Disorders Among Lyric Singers
The purpose of this research was to study the associations of postural activities and knowledge of the voice of opera singers, recognized in the literature for the specificity of their posture. Additionally, the link between vocal pathologies and body pains on one hand, and posture control on the other hand was investigated. (Source: Journal of Voice)

Psychometric Properties of the Vocal Fatigue Handicap Questionnaire in Kannada Among Teachers
As the literature review suggests, most professional voice users, such as teachers and singers, are prone to vocal abuse or misuse and frequently experience vocal fatigue. Therefore, validating the Vocal Fatigue Handicap Questionnaire among professional voice users with and without the symptoms of vocal fatigue might provide appropriate external validity of the questionnaire. Fidelity to the Consensus Auditory-Perceptual Analysis of Voice (CAPE-V): A Pilot Study
Auditory-perceptual measurements of voice are among the most common diagnostic tools used during a voice evaluation and are considered a gold standard for documenting voice disorders. The goal of this pilot study was to examine the fidelity of clinicians in the administration of the Consensus Auditory-Perceptual Evaluation of Voice (CAPE-V) and its published protocol. This investigation aimed to determine how the CAPE-V is being used by clinicians and researchers and the extent to which users deviate from the published procedure. (Source: Journal of Voice)

Validation of an AI-assisted Treatment Outcome Measure for Gender-Affirming Voice Care: Comparing AI Accuracy to Listener ’s Perception of Voice Femininity
There is currently a lack of objective treatment outcome measures for transgender individuals undergoing gender-affirming voice care. Recently, Bensoussan et al developed an AI model that is able to generate a voice femininity rating based on a short voice sample provided through a smartphone application. The purpose of this study was to examine the feasibility of using this model as a treatment outcome measure by comparing its performance to human listeners. Additionally, we examined the effect of two different training datasets on the model ’s accuracy and performance when presented with external data. (Source: Journal of Voice)

Electroglottography in Medical Diagnostics of Vocal Tract Pathologies: A Systematic Review
Electroglottography (EGG) is a technology developed for measuring the vocal fold contact area during human voice production. Although considered subjective and unreliable as a sole diagnostic method, with the correct application of relevant computational methods, it can constitute a most promising non-invasive voice disorder diagnostic tools in a form of a digital vocal tract pathology classifier. The aim of the following study is to gather and evaluate currently existing digital voice quality assessment systems and vocal tract abnormality classification systems that rely on the use of electroglottographic bio-impedance si...
