Assessing the Necessity of Inferior Vena Cava Filter Insertion in Acute Iliofemoral Deep Vein Thrombosis: A Retrospective Analysis
In cases of acute iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis (IFDVT), there is a recognized benefit in reducing thrombus burden to enhance long-term prognosis and reduce complications, such as post-thrombotic syndrome. Typically, thrombus-reducing interventions involve inferior vena cava (IVC) filter insertion due to the potential risk of pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) during surgical procedures. However, questions have arisen regarding the necessity of IVC filter insertion in such cases. (Source: Journal of Vascular Surgery)

Ultrasonographic Changes in the Anterior Scalene Muscle in Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
Identifiable ultrasonographic changes in the anterior scalene muscle in symptomatic patients undergoing treatment for neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome (nTOS) have not previously been reported. We sought to describe a consistently observed pathological abnormality in the anterior scalene muscle seen on ultrasound in many patients treated for nTOS at our institution. A Non-Traumatic True Aneurysm of the Superficial Palmar Arch, Treated With a Flow Diverter Stent: A Unique Approach
We present a true aneurysm at the superficial palmar arch, that was managed endovascularly, for the first time, by the deployment of a neuro flow diverter stent. (Source: Journal of Vascular Surgery)

What is the Role of Comprehensive Pediatric Vascular Surgery Program in 2023 and Beyond?
Pediatric patients with vascular pathologies are a significantly underrepresented population. There is a dearth of vascular specialists to manage a variety of pathologies from traumatic injuries to congenital aortopathies. Overall, there are very few if any comprehensive vascular surgery programs that exist to provide care to these children. (Source: Journal of Vascular Surgery)

Feasibility Study on the Efficacy of a Patient-Owned Wound Surveillance System for Diabetic Foot Ulcer Care (ePOWS Study)
Wound image analysis tools hold promise in helping patients monitor their own wounds. We aim to perform a novel feasibility study on the efficacy of a patient-owned wound surveillance system for diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) care. (Source: Journal of Vascular Surgery)

Splenectomy is Associated With More Complications Than Spleen Preservation in Patients With Blunt Abdominal Trauma
The spleen is involved in almost 32% of abdominal trauma. In recent years, the substitution of the surgical treatment of blunt splenic injury with a nonoperative management in selected cases has occurred. The aim of this study is to compare the group of patients undergoing splenectomy with conservative treatment and embolization when necessary. (Source: Journal of Vascular Surgery)

Mesentero-Portal Venous Bypass With Same-Donor Iliac Artery Graft During Living Donor Liver Transplantation
Reconstructing the portal vein becomes crucial in long-segmental, thrombosed, and severely damaged portal veins during living donor liver transplantation (LDLT). When portal vein thrombosis extends beyond the spleno-mesenteric junction and performing a thromboendovenectomy followed by portal vein interposition is impossible, the mesentero-portal venous bypass (MPVB) becomes mandatory. Interestingly, a ‘same-donor’ iliac artery allograft (SDIAA) has never been utilized as a conduit in this context. (Source: Journal of Vascular Surgery)

Trading Scalpel and Sutures With Guidewires and Catheters: Endovascular Management of Extremity Vascular Trauma
Trauma-related vascular injuries can have significant impacts on limb function and survival. While open surgical approaches have been used for managing such injuries, endovascular therapy offers a promising alternative. This retrospective observational study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of various endovascular techniques for extremity vascular trauma (EVT). (Source: Journal of Vascular Surgery)

Case Report of Endovascular Treatment of Renal Artery Pseudoaneurysm
Arterial embolization has emerged as an effective and minimally invasive alternative for the treatment of renal pseudoaneurysms, thus avoiding the need for open surgery in many cases (Roman et al., 2017). This case report aims to discuss the presentation, diagnosis, and successful treatment of a renal artery pseudoaneurysm using arterial embolization as a therapeutic approach. Case Report: Staged Embolization and Sclerotherapy in Treating a Complicated Arteriovenous Malformation of Right Lower Leg
Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is a rare vascular anomaly with direct connection between an artery and a vein. High-pressure arterial blood flowing directly into the vein will result in venous wall degradation, and will elicit a spectrum of symptoms such as tissue edema, skin dystrophy, distal ischemia, vascular aneurysm and heart failure. 10% high-flow AVMs in lower limbs are susceptible to limb-threatening complications and hard to cure completely. No ideal modality has been established in treating complicated AVMs, while image-guided endovascular intervention is widely accepted as the first-line therapy. (Source: Jour...
