Mesentero-Portal Venous Bypass With Same-Donor Iliac Artery Graft During Living Donor Liver Transplantation
Reconstructing the portal vein becomes crucial in long-segmental, thrombosed, and severely damaged portal veins during living donor liver transplantation (LDLT). When portal vein thrombosis extends beyond the spleno-mesenteric junction and performing a thromboendovenectomy followed by portal vein interposition is impossible, the mesentero-portal venous bypass (MPVB) becomes mandatory. Interestingly, a ‘same-donor’ iliac artery allograft (SDIAA) has never been utilized as a conduit in this context.
