Splenectomy is Associated With More Complications Than Spleen Preservation in Patients With Blunt Abdominal Trauma

The spleen is involved in almost 32% of abdominal trauma. In recent years, the substitution of the surgical treatment of blunt splenic injury with a nonoperative management in selected cases has occurred. The aim of this study is to compare the group of patients undergoing splenectomy with conservative treatment and embolization when necessary.
