Association between 2D trans-perineal ultrasound and physical examination in evaluation of ani function
ConclusionMeasures such as the LAI can be used to quantify the function of the levator ani muscle, which may be useful for evaluating the efficacy of pelvic floor physiotherapy and exercise. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

Non ‐glandular findings on breast ultrasound. Part II: a pictorial review of chest wall lesions
AbstractThe breast ultrasound (US) field-of-view (FOV) includes glandular parenchyma as well as tissues located anterior to and posterior to it, up to pleural line. For that, it is possible to incidentally identify lesions unrelated to breast parenchyma during screening or diagnostic US; sometimes a palpable lump may be the reason of the imaging exam. Furthermore, abnormality related to chest wall are easier and more accurate detected after mastectomy. Hence, radiologists should know the US appearance of lesions which may develop from all tissues present in this region and displayed in the US FOV, without focusing only on ...

Sonography of monkeypox cutaneous lesions
AbstractThe present global outbreak of monkeypox has reached more than 79,000 cases by November 2022. While clinical features have been extensively studied, ultrasound findings in monkeypox skin lesions have not been described to date. In our work, we performed a complete sonographic study with Doppler and elastography of 3 patients with polymerase chain reaction-proven monkeypox. The most characteristic findings in skin lesions were hyperechoic epidermal thickening, dermo-hypodermal thickening with focal hypoechogenicity and increased intralesional vascularization. Regarding lymphadenopathies, we found vascularization of ...

Diagnostic performance of mammography and ultrasound in breast cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionsThe meta-analysis found that, US and MMG has similar diagnostic performance in detecting breast cancer on per-patient basis after corrected threshold effect. However, on a per-lesion basis US was found to have a better diagnostic accuracy than MMG. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)
