Knowledge, attitude, barriers, and associated factors of obstetric ultrasound among pregnant women in public hospitals, Ethiopia, 2022: a cross-sectional study
ConclusionPregnant women ’s levels of knowledge and attitudes towards obstetric ultrasound were moderately good. However, there were a variety of barriers, including patient privacy, waiting time, handling, and side effects, that influenced the utilisation of ultrasound. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

Combined DSA- and US-guided management of acute bleeding: effectiveness of percutaneous glue embolization in six cases
ConclusionsIn this study percutaneous US-guided embolization by direct puncture was a safe and effective approach to manage acute bleedings; it could be considered as an alternative in patients with unfavourable vascular anatomy for the standard catheter-directed endovascular embolization. Imaging findings of right cardiac amyloidosis: impact on prognosis and clinical course
AbstractCardiac involvement from amyloidosis is of growing interest in the overall literature. Despite cardiac amyloidosis (CA) has been considered for a long time a rare disease, the diagnostic awareness is increasing mainly thanks to the improvement of diagnostic softwares and of imaging techniques such as cardiac magnetic resonance   (CMR). Some authors have observed an increase of prevalence rate of CA; moreover it’s often underestimated because clinical manifestations are aspecific. The interstitial infiltration of the left ventricle has been extensively studied, while the involvement of the right ventricle (RV) ha...

SIUMB recommendations on the use of ultrasound in neoplastic lesions of the gallbladder and extrahepatic biliary tract
AbstractExtrahepatic biliary tract and gallbladder neoplastic lesions are relatively rare and hence are often underrepresented in the general clinical recommendations for the routine use of ultrasound (US). Dictated by the necessity of updated summarized review of current literature to guide clinicians, this paper represents an updated position of the Italian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (SIUMB) on the use of US and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in extrahepatic biliary tract and gallbladder neoplastic lesions such as extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, gallbladder adenocarcinoma, gallbladder adenomyomat...

Sonographic prediction of fetal main pulmonary artery (MPA) Doppler indices of lung maturity and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) development
ConclusionFetal MPA Doppler measurements have a major role in anticipating the development of neonatal RDS in preterm and early term neonates. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

Prenatal diagnosis of Pallister-Hall syndrome: ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, and three-dimensional reconstructions of phenotypical findings
AbstractPallister  − Hall syndrome is a rare malformation that involves the presence of a suprasellar hamartoma and associated malformations. Prenatal diagnosis is also rare, and few cases have been reported using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A 35-year-old G5P2A2 woman at the 35th week of gestation was ref erred to our service. Fetal MRI showed an isointense image in the suprasellar region, pushing the brainstem up and backward, and compressing the vermis and cerebellum on T2-weighted images. On T1-weighted images, the hypointense signal of the tumor was similar to that of the brain parenchyma. Ultras ound image...

Evaluating acoustic and thermal properties of a plaque phantom
ConclusionsThis study demonstrated that acoustic and thermal properties of atherosclerotic plaque phantoms were within the range of reported values. Future studies should be focused on the optimum recipe of the atherosclerotic plaque phantoms that mimics the human atherosclerotic plaque (agar 4% w/v, gypsum 10% w/v and butter 10% w/v) and can be used for HIFU therapy. A rare case of an intratendinous ganglion cyst extending into the muscle belly of flexor carpi radialis: a case report and review of the literature
We report a case of a 62-year-old male, that presented to our tertiary orthopaedic oncology service with an intratendinous ganglion cyst, extending into the muscle belly of flexor carpi radialis. We describe this rare presentation and review the literature. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)
