Ultrasonographic measurements of the omohyoid muscle during shoulder muscles contraction
ConclusionOmohyoid muscle was most contracted during abduction position with abduction shoulder muscles isometric contraction. Changes of the scapula position might influence omohyoid muscle function. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

Intraobserver reliability and validity of a single ultrasonic measurement of the lateral condyle-capsule distance in the temporomandibular joint
ConclusionIntraobserver reliability of a trained examiner is very high in the single measurement of the LCCD and validity is significant compared to more complex methods. The risk of bias is low since the mean of three LCCD measurements is calculated as opposed to recording only one single measurement. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

Global use of ultrasound in newborn vascular access: RA. CE. VA: implantation and management of complications
AbstractThe use of ultrasound is advantageous in many respects: pre-procedural vein selection, real-time venipuncture, tip navigation (to verify guidewire or catheter progression) and post-procedural tip location, detection of early (hematoma, pneumothorax, hemothorax) and late complications (cardiac tamponade, fibroblastic sleeve, thrombosis).Such assessment is best performed using a systematic and standardized approach, as the Rapid Central Vein Assessment, described in this study for neonates too. Prediction of mode of delivery by an ultrasound score similar to Bishop score and performance of independent predictors
ConclusionsUSG examination by USG score at term gestation before the onset of labour can predict mode of delivery by caesarean section. It can predict spontaneous onset of labour. However, among all the individual parameters, cervix length has best predictive ability for caesarean section. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

Traumatic segmental renal infarction due to renal apical artery thrombosis by minor blunt abdominal trauma: the role of CEUS
AbstractPost-traumatic segmental renal infarction is an extremely rare event, especially in case of minor blunt abdominal trauma. While major trauma guidelines are well established, several problems account for the adequate management of minor trauma. Herein, we report a case of minor blunt abdominal trauma determining traumatic thrombosis of the apical renal artery and segmental renal infarction, firstly diagnosed by CEUS in emergency care setting. Prognostic value of Doppler waveform analysis of common femoral vein in septic patients: a prospective cohort study
ConclusionAbnormal CFV Doppler waveforms were not associated with ICU mortality in patients with sepsis. Furthermore, in the exploratory analysis, these alterations were not useful in identifying RV dysfunction in these patients.Graphical abstract (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

Chondro-osseous border in baby hip ultrasonography for developmental dysplasia of the hip: an indispensable litmus paper for the accuracy of scientific publications
ConclusionPublished literature lacks strict criteria for the publication of correct images corresponding to Graf ’s technique in baby hip US. This fact raises concerns about the quality of published material (and, as a corollary, the quality of clinical application of the technique) and should have ramifications on scientific journal policies regarding the publication of such manuscripts. Eosinophilic cystitis: a case report of a pseudotumoral lesion
We report a case of a woman referred to our department in which an ultrasound showed a bladder mass and the biopsy demonstrated the presence of eosinophilic cystitis. The patient was treated with medical treatment and the outcome was favorable with the disappearance of symptoms and no recurrence at controls. We carry a literature review of cystitis eosinophilic, the ultrasound appearance, and therapeutic modalities. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)
