Posterior intra-articular hip injections: a pilot study investigating a new approach
ConclusionUltrasound-guided posterior approach hip injection is accurate and without serious adverse events in our study. The posterior approach can be considered as an alternative approach for patients who cannot tolerate or may have technical difficulty with an anterior approach. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

An unusual case of primary tuberculosis of the patella and patellar tendon masquerading as gout
We present a case of a 54-year-old year gentleman with insidious onset of anterior knee pain. Imaging demonstrated a soft tissue lesion involving the patellar tendon and eroding the inferior pole of the patella. The imaging features, particularly ult rasound, resembled those that are typically seen with gout. Ultrasound guided biopsy revealed this to be TB of the patella. The patient was successfully treated with antitubercular therapy. Musculoskeletal TB, while usually not a primary form of TB, is an important consideration particularly in pati ents with risk factors for the disease. Its imaging features can mimic other f...

Transcortical transcatheter ultrasound-assisted technique for deep-seated brain tumors. Technical note
ConclusionsRecent improvement of IOUS image-quality devices offers several attractive options for real-time navigation. The combination of conventional neuronavigation systems with real-time IOUS assessment during the intradural step provides a higher degree of control by improving the execution of the surgery. We hope this description may be a useful tool for some selected cases and contribute to the further enhancement and improvement of this widely used technique. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

Sonographic detection of massive colonic pseudopolyposis in inflammatory bowel diseases
ConclusionThis is the first study describing the IUS features of pseudopolyposis in IBD. The potential use of IUS to assess pseudopolyposis might have an impact on IUS monitoring and surveillance of IBD patients with condition. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

Reliability and stability of ultrasound-guided attenuation parameter in evaluating hepatic steatosis
ConclusionThe UGAP values obtained by the two different measuring methods and different measuring times (3, 5, 7 and 10 times) are stable and reliable. Additionally, 3 times of UGAP measurements might be enough for each patient in clinical practice. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

Qualitative and quantitative characteristics of CEUS for renal cell carcinoma and angiomyolipoma: a narrative review
AbstractIncidental findings of renal masses are increasing. However, a substantial portion of surgically treated renal masses turn out to be benign on histopathological examination. Thus, there is a clear need for improved pre-surgical assessment to minimize unnecessary invasive procedures. The challenge intensifies when distinguishing between renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and angiomyolipoma (AML) in renal lesions smaller than 4  cm with minimal adipose tissue. In such cases, contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) has emerged as a valuable diagnostic tool, by utilizing both qualitative and quantitative parameters. Quantitative ...
