Characterization of a fat tissue mimicking material for high intensity focused ultrasound applications
ConclusionThe optimum fat TMM emulates the thermal conductivity of human fat tissue and exhibits a fat-like appearance on US and MRI images. The TMM is cost-effective and has a long lifespan and possesses great potential for use in HIFU applications as a fat TMM. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

An update on pyelonephritis: role of contrast enhancement ultrasound (CEUS)
AbstractAcute pyelonephritis (APN) is a bacterial infection causing inflammation of the kidneys. Diagnosis is usually based on clinical and laboratory findings. Imaging is required if a complication is suspected in acute pyelonephritis to assess the nature and extent of the lesions and to detect underlying causes. CT represents the current imaging modality of choice in clinical practice. CEUS is an alternative that has been proven to be equally accurate in the detection of acute pyelonephritis renal lesions. CEUS allows us to distinguish small simple nephritic involvement from abscess complications and to follow their evol...

Antenatal ultrasonographic diagnosis of rhizomelic chondrodysplasia punctata
ConclusionThe important clue in this finding was the patient ’s family history, which made the gynaecologist request an ultrasound to prevent the birth of a child with a congenital disorder. Genetic tests are usually performed on amniocentesis samples. Because the presence of chondrodysplasia is an indication for legal abortion in Iran, finally, the patient underwent legal abortion after amniocentesis and genetic tests. Comparison between lung ultrasonography and chest X-ray in the evaluation of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome
ConclusionOur study showed that lung ultrasound enables the diagnosing of respiratory distress syndrome in premature neonates and also shows a significant correlation with chest X-ray, which is considered as a radiological method of choice for the diagnosis of RDS. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

Adhesive capsulitis and ultrasound diagnosis, an inseparable pair: a novel review
ConclusionsThe evidence collected in this review testify that musculoskeletal US is as reliable as MRI for AC diagnosis, therefore we believe that in this context US should be considered a first-line imaging technique. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)

Additional value of Doppler ultrasound to B-mode ultrasound in assessing for uterine intracavitary pathologies among perimenopausal and postmenopausal bleeding women: a multicentre prospective observational study in Vietnam
ConclusionsB-mode ultrasound used in combination with Doppler as a noninvasive tool was significantly valuable in the diagnostic procedures for UIPs in perimenopausal and postmenopausal bleeding women. Doppler ultrasound and B-mode transvaginal ultrasound should be used together routinely for discrimination between malignant diseases and benign endometrial changes. Further studies are needed to better understand the benefits of combining Doppler ultrasound and B-mode ultrasound in routine sonographic practice. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound)
