Hyperdense Basal Ganglia on Brain CT in Non-Ketotic Hyperglycemia Associated with Hemichorea
Teaching Point: Unilateral choreiform movements combined with contralateral hyperdense lentiform and/or caudate nucleus on computed tomography is suggestive for non-ketotic hyperglycemia, warranting further metabolic workup. Neurocysticercosis: An Uncommon Cause of Acute Supratentorial Hydrocephalus
We report a 29-year-old woman with acute supratentorial hydrocephalus due to intraventricular neurocysticercosis (NC). Aqueductal stenosis due to web formation and a free floating intraventricular cyst with scolex were pathognomonic and led to the diagnosis of NC. Worldwide, NC is the most important parasitic infection of the central nervous system but is very uncommon in non-endemic regions. Intraventricular abnormalities occur in approximately 30% of the patients. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays a crucial role in the diagnostic work-up and in guiding intervention.Teaching Point: Brain magnetic resonance imaging in...

Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome Revealed by Splenic Infarcts
Teaching Points: Splenic infarction is an extremely rare presentation of median arcuate ligament syndrome that requires a good analysis of celiac axis on computed tomography angiography in other to make a proper diagnosis and management. Myriad Presentations of Intracranial Meningiomas: Pictoral Essay
Meningiomas are the most common non-glial tumor of the central nervous system (CNS). Seen in middle age with a female preponderance, most of the tumors are solitary and supratentorial with benign histology (WHO grade I). Atypical and anaplastic (malignant) meningiomas (WHO grade II and III), comprise 15 –20% of all intracranial meningiomas [1-5]. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the imaging modality of choice. Acquired Peripheral Nerve Injury Findings in Critically Ill COVID-19 Patients
We retrospectively analyzed clinical, NCS/EMG, and NMRI aspects of five COVID-19 intensive care unit inpatients that received mechanical ventilation. After awakening from sedation, they experienced peripheral neuromyopathic symptoms.Teaching Point: Acquired peripheral nerve injury has been described in COVID-19 infection and knowledge of the clinical, nerve conduction studies/electromyography (NCS/EMG) and neurographic magnetic resonance imaging (NMRI) findings are crucial. Pulmonary Artery Vasoconstriction Due to Bronchial Obstruction
Pulmonary artery (PA) vasoconstriction resulting from pulmonary ventilation/perfusion imbalance is infrequently detected with computed tomography (CT). An 85-year-old woman presented to the emergency room with dyspnea and desaturation, despite oxygen supply. A CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) revealed massive central bronchial mucoid impaction in all but the right upper bronchus. Only the right upper pulmonary veins were opacified, which we speculate was linked to the central bronchial obstruction, with identical distributions, through vasoconstriction of the corresponding PAs.Teaching Point: This case demonstrates the unus...
