Effectiveness of surface treatment on bond strength of ceramic brackets to two types of CAD/CAM-prepared nanohybrid composites
ConclusionsSurface treatment with 2% TiF4 wt/v enhanced the adhesion between orthodontic ceramic brackets to GR and LU CAD/CAM composite restorative materials. GR CAD/CAM nanohybrid composite had higher bond strength than LU to ceramic orthodontic brackets. (Source: Journal of Orofacial Orthopedics/Fortschritte der Kieferorthopadie)

Effects of varying attachment positions on palatal displacement of maxillary incisors with clear aligner therapy
ConclusionsMaximum displacement was seen at the incisal third of the maxillary incisors in the model with palatal attachments. The model without attachment generated the highest stresses. However, labial attachments as compared to other models appear to offer some biomechanical advantage by reducing uncontrolled tipping. Effects of miniscrew-facilitated micro-osteoperforations on the rate of orthodontic tooth movement
ConclusionOverall, we found that MOPs did not significantly affect the rate of orthodontic tooth movement during canine retraction. (Source: Journal of Orofacial Orthopedics/Fortschritte der Kieferorthopadie)

Comparative analysis of passive play and torque expression in self-ligating and traditional lingual brackets
ConclusionsSTb and ALIAS brackets generated the lowest passive play; STb and In-Ovation  L brackets showed the lowest angle of play at the greatest torque expression. These measurements allow to understand the accuracy of lingual systems and at the same time the amount of overcorrections to be applied in the setup in order to obtain high quality orthodontic treatments. Elution study of acrylic monomers from orthodontic materials using high performance liquid chromatography  (HPLC)
ConclusionUsing the described method, it is possible to qualitatively and quantitatively determine the in  vitro elution of monomers from orthodontic materials. The concentrations of the substances identified were below the current maximum recommended intake. However, a cumulative effect and low-dose effects should be considered for both patients and dental professionals, especially for young patients . Measures to reduce exposure patients and practitioners are suggested. (Source: Journal of Orofacial Orthopedics/Fortschritte der Kieferorthopadie)

Influence of facial components in class  III malocclusion esthetic perception of orthodontists, patients, and laypersons
ConclusionRegarding class  III facial attractiveness perception, the sum of all facial features and not the alteration of a single component alone seems to play a key role in the perception of facial attractiveness. The 2D or 3D perspective did not play a significant role in perception and the analyzed categories of resp onders did not show significant differences when perceiving facial attractiveness of the utilized simulations. Use of nano-hydroxyapatite serum and different finishing/polishing techniques to reduce enamel staining of debonding after orthodontic treatment
ConclusionsThe applied concentrations of nano-hydroxyapatite had no significant effect in reducing tooth color changes after debonding in orthodontic treatment. Force decay of polyethylene terephthalate glycol aligner materials during simulation of typical clinical loading/unloading scenarios
ConclusionAlthough the initial material stiffness of PET ‑G is relatively high, the transmission of excessive forces is attenuated by the high material-related force decay already within a few hours after intraoral insertion.
