Causal relationship between affect disorders and endometrial cancer: a Mendelian randomisation study
CONCLUSION: Major depressive disorder(MDD), anxiety and stress-related disorders(ASRD) are not genetically responsible for endometrial cancer. We consider that emotional disorders may affect endometrial cancer indirectly by affecting body mass index. This study provides us with new insights to better understand the aetiology of endometrial cancer and inform prevention strategies.PMID:38425012 | DOI:10.1080/01443615.2024.2321321 (Source: Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)

Construction of a ferroptosis and hypoxia-related gene signature in cervical cancer to assess tumour immune microenvironment and predict prognosis
CONCLUSIONS: We developed a novel prognostic gene signature combining ferroptosis/hypoxia-related genes, which provides new ideas for individual treatment of cervical cancer.PMID:38425023 | DOI:10.1080/01443615.2024.2321323 (Source: Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)

The effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of obstetrics and gynaecology trainees: a world-wide literature review
DISCUSSION: This review analyses the global impact of COVID-19 on O&G trainees' mental health, showing a pervasive negative effect linked to fear of the virus. Limited psychological support has led to prolonged issues, hindering patient safety and increasing sick leave. The study underscores the urgency of comprehensive support, particularly in female-dominated fields. Addressing these challenges is crucial for future pandemics, highlighting the need to learn from past mistakes and prioritise mental health resources for trainee well-being during and beyond pandemics.PMID:38419407 | DOI:10.1080/01443615.2024.2319791 (So...

Impact of haemostasis methods during ovarian cystectomy on ovarian reserve: a pairwise and network meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: There was insufficient research to detect the optimal haemostasis method for ovarian reserve preservation in ovarian cystectomy. Nevertheless, haemostasis by electrocoagulation (bipolar) should be avoided when possible, and the suture might be considered as the best choice.PMID:38406841 | DOI:10.1080/01443615.2024.2320294 (Source: Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)

Do maternal haemodynamics have a causal influence on treatment for gestational diabetes?
CONCLUSIONS: Maternal BMI at booking has a causal, rather than simply associational, relationship on the need for pharmacological treatment of GDM. No significant causal relationships were found between maternal haemodynamics and the need for pharmacological treatment.PMID:38389317 | DOI:10.1080/01443615.2024.2307883 (Source: Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)
