Development of binational radiation therapy quality indicator reports for prostate cancer treatment using registry data
ConclusionQI reports for the treatment of prostate cancer by radiation oncologists have been produced using data from Australia and New Zealand patients. These are being disseminated to institutes on a six-monthly basis allowing comparisons to de-identified peers. The reports aim to facilitate improving patient outcomes, deepen engagement with the radiation oncology community and increase the breadth of PCOR –ANZ coverage. Additional QIs will be included in future iterations of these reports as data matures. (Source: Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology)

Female representation in radiology subspecialty interest groups in Australia and New Zealand
ConclusionFemale representation within the membership and representative leadership of some SIGs is well below parity and active initiatives to improve female representation should be considered. (Source: Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology)

Unlikely cause of primary upper limb venous thrombosis
We present an unusual case of primary upper limb thrombosis caused by compression of the brachiocephalic vein from a sternoclavicular ganglion cyst. This case illustrates the importance of considering a wide differential when searching for a cause of primary upper limb venous thrombosis. (Source: Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology)

Super ‐selective Gelfoam embolisation in high‐flow priapism
ConclusionSuper-selective embolisation of the internal pudendal artery should be considered as a treatment option for high-flow priapism, with Gelfoam as an appropriate temporary embolic agent of choice. We show that it was a safe and effective option for the patients treated in this series, enabling quick and long-term return to baseline erectile function. Our results support data provided by the limited number of cases in the literature. (Source: Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology)

Navigating the glass labyrinth: Addressing gender diversity in Australian and New Zealand representative radiology leadership
ConclusionThe issues underpinning gender inequality in representative leadership are complex and diverse, resulting in disproportionate losses of women radiologists along the leadership pathway compared to men. Unconscious biases, including assumptions of inferior capability, capacity and credibility among women radiologist leaders, create unique challenges at organisational, institutional and personal levels. Change cannot be achieved by passive momentum alone: concrete initiatives and active engagement are required. To improve leadership diversity, strategies must be multifaceted and supported at an organisational level....

Necessity of performing a routine chest radiograph following the insertion of tunnelled Hickman catheter under imaging guidance: A single centre experience
ConclusionGiven the extremely low rate of iatrogenic pneumothorax, chest radiograph following the insertion of a tunnelled Hickman catheter under ultrasound and fluoroscopic guidance may be an unnecessary investigation unless the patient is symptomatic, or there is sufficient clinical concern. Lessons learnt from the global iodinated contrast media shortage in head and neck imaging
This article will review the current best practices in head and neck imaging for a variety of common presentations and provide examples where alternative imaging can be considered due to the recent ICM shortage. Ultrasound and MRI techniques can feature heavily in many diagnostic processes in head and neck pathology, and a variety of common presentations can be appropriately investigated through clinical evaluation or naso-endoscopy. In many instances, for the routine assessment of non-acute adult and paediatric head and neck presentations, the use of contrast-enhanced CT can be safely minimised to conserve ICM if required...

Granulomatosis with polyangiitis: Common and uncommon presentations
SummaryGranulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) is a multisystemic autoimmune small vessel vasculitis predominantly affecting the respiratory and renal systems. Other systems such as the central nervous system, orbital, cardiac and gastrointestinal systems may also be involved to a lesser degree. Although there are no imaging features that are pathognomonic for GPA, there are known radiological patterns suggestive of the disease and imaging plays an important role in diagnosis, assessment and monitoring of disease activity. This is more evident when combined with clinical features, biochemical values and histopathology resul...

Analysis of gender in radiology in Australia and its importance to the profession and workforce planning
SummaryMedical workforce diversity is important with gender constituting a significant role. Male and female medical practitioners participate in the workforce differently: understanding the cultural and social expectations, economic productivity, professional opportunities, and the effects on workforce supply, will aid workforce planning. Having a workforce that reflects the diversity of the community is important in providing patient-centred care. As more than half of medical graduates are female, it would be expected that this is reflected in radiology specialty. We analyse the Australian gender-specific data from the R...

Treatment of pulmonary artery pseudoaneurysms and stenosis with balloon ‐expandable stents
We describe our use of balloon-expandable stents in pulmonary arteries for a variety of indications. This is an endovascular technique that provides an alternative treatment option to treat some forms of complex pulmonary artery disease when standard surgical or other endovascular options are not possible. This case series describes the successful treatment of four patients with different pulmonary artery diseases. Indications for stent placement include multiple broad-necked pulmonary artery pseudoaneurysms, symptomatic malignant pulmonary artery narrowing and post-surgical iatrogenic pulmonary artery stenosis. No stent-r...
