Hemorrhage risk prediction after computed tomography-guided lung biopsy: Clinical parameters and quantitative pulmonary vascular analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Higher-grade pulmonary hemorrhage may occur after CT-guided lung biopsy. Lesion depth, vessel density, and BV5 are independent risk factors for higher-grade pulmonary hemorrhage. Nomograms integrating clinical parameters and radiographic pulmonary vasculature measures offer enhanced capability for assessing hemorrhage risk following CT-guided lung biopsy, thereby facilitating improved patient clinical care.PMID:38514373 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2024.03.011 (Source: J Formos Med Assoc)

A non-invasive nomogram for predicting heart failure with preserved ejection fraction in taiwanese outpatients with unexplained dyspnea and fatigue
CONCLUSION: The noninvasive HFpEF nomogram provides a preliminary estimation of the probability of HFpEF in Taiwanese outpatients with unexplained dyspnea and fatigue, which may help the decision-making on further invasive CPET.PMID:38503670 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2024.02.008 (Source: J Formos Med Assoc)

Stented cryopreserved aortic allograft for reconstruction of long-segment post-tuberculosis tracheal stenosis
This report describes a successful tracheal reconstruction in a 44-year-old man with long-segment post-tuberculosis tracheobronchial stenosis, utilizing a stented cryopreserved aortic allograft. The procedure was necessitated by the failure of conventional treatments. The stenotic segment was resected and replaced with a cryopreserved aortic allograft, supported by a metallic stent to maintain airway patency. Post-surgery, the patient experienced resolution of dyspnea without major complications. Currently, at 33 months post-operation, the patient enjoys an enhanced quality of life with effective breathing, speaking, swall...

Computer-assisted image analysis of preexisting histological patterns of the cephalic vein to predict wrist arteriovenous fistula non-maturation
CONCLUSION: Computer-assisted image interpretation can help to quantify the preexisting histological patterns of the cephalic vein, while the collagen-to-muscle ratio can predict non-maturation of wrist fistula development at an early stage.PMID:38492985 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2024.03.004 (Source: J Formos Med Assoc)

Maternal and neonatal outcomes in women with congenital heart disease: A nationwide population-based study
CONCLUSIONS: During pregnancy, the monitoring of heart function and cardiac rhythm could be more intensive in mothers with CHD. In addition to accurately assessing fetal growth and development during antenatal care, mothers with severe CHD should be provided with careful fetal heart structure assessment and genetic testing along with counseling.PMID:38485554 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2023.11.009 (Source: J Formos Med Assoc)
