Obstructive sleep apnea and vitamin D: an updated systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Patients with OSA have lower serum 25-OHD levels with a higher prevalence of vitamin D deficiency, regardless of age or BMI, pointing to an independent association between vitamin D and OSA.PMID:37704922 | DOI:10.1007/s42000-023-00481-3 (Source: Hormones)

Hepatokines: the missing link in the development of insulin resistance and hyperandrogenism in PCOS?
Hormones (Athens). 2023 Sep 14. doi: 10.1007/s42000-023-00487-x. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe liver plays a critical role in several metabolic pathways, including the regulation of glucose and lipid metabolism. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), the most common chronic liver disease worldwide, is closely associated with insulin resistance (IR) and metabolic syndrome (MetS). Hepatokines, newly discovered proteins secreted by hepatocytes, have been linked to the induction of these metabolic dysregulations. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age, has been...

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine": maternal vitamin D status and supplementation in pregnancy and their effect on neonatal and childhood outcomes
Hormones (Athens). 2023 Sep 12. doi: 10.1007/s42000-023-00486-y. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTVitamin D (VD) plays a crucial role in regulating calcium homeostasis, while the wealth of its pleiotropic actions is gaining increasing research interest. Sufficient VD concentrations are of clinical relevance, particularly in the context of physiological alterations, such as those occurring during pregnancy when maternal VD is the sole source for the developing fetus. As a result, inadequate VD concentrations in pregnancy have been associated with perinatal complications and adverse neonatal outcomes, including preeclampsia, ge...

Absence of anti-rabphilin-3A antibodies in children and young adults with idiopathic central diabetes insipidus: a potential clue to elucidating a tumor etiology
CONCLUSION: Our data suggest that the absence of anti-rabphilin-3A antibodies in young patients clinically diagnosed with idiopathic CDI may increase the probability of the development of non-lymphocytic lesions, including germinoma. We thus recommend a more attentive approach at the onset of these diseases.PMID:37697216 | DOI:10.1007/s42000-023-00484-0 (Source: Hormones)
