Anabolic myokine responses and muscular performance following 8 weeks of autoregulated compared to linear resistance exercise in recreationally active males
CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that APRE may be more effective than LRE in increasing muscular strength, power, and lean body mass, as well as circulating IGF-1 levels, in recreationally active males. The observed differences may be attributed to the increased training volume associated with APRE. However, further research is needed to directly assess muscle protein synthesis.PMID:38472648 | DOI:10.1007/s42000-024-00544-z (Source: Hormones)

Spontaneous hypoglycemia: should we mind the gap? Long-term follow-up of healthy people who met Whipple's triad criteria
CONCLUSION: The high percentage of patients who are discharged as "healthy" and still have symptoms after many years is disturbing. It is possible that the symptoms are not due to low blood glucose. We urge caution with use of the term "healthy". We advocate a multidisciplinary therapeutic approach after an organic cause of hypoglycemia has been ruled out. Psychosomatic treatment seems to be useful. In addition, more research should be conducted on this topic.PMID:38457064 | DOI:10.1007/s42000-024-00542-1 (Source: Hormones)

Thyroid-stimulating hormone levels are associated with estradiol levels and impact reproductive outcomes in preconceptionally euthyroid women undergoing their first IVF/ICSI cycles
CONCLUSION(S): Serum TSH levels change significantly during COH and are associated with significant changes in estradiol levels. However, euthyroid women with high-normal TSH levels showed similar development potential for inseminated embryos and early reproductive outcomes compared to those with low TSH levels.PMID:38443586 | DOI:10.1007/s42000-024-00538-x (Source: Hormones)

Challenges and pitfalls in the management of endocrine toxicities from immune checkpoint inhibitors: a case presentation of synchronous thyrotoxicosis and primary adrenal insufficiency in a melanoma patient
CONCLUSIONS: The simultaneous occurrence of adrenal and thyroid autoimmune diseases, resembling autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type 2, may occur as a rare but serious side effect of ICI treatment. It often presents with abrupt onset and rapid evolution towards polyglandular insufficiency. Physicians should be aware of the potential association of two or more endocrine disorders and careful monitoring of endocrine function is needed during ICI therapy.PMID:38421588 | DOI:10.1007/s42000-024-00535-0 (Source: Hormones)

Reversibility of disturbed pituitary function in pediatric conditions with psychological stressors: implications for clinical practice
Hormones (Athens). 2024 Feb 29. doi: 10.1007/s42000-024-00536-z. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe complex communication network between the central nervous system and the hypothalamic-pituitary axis forms the basis of endocrine functional plasticity, which facilitates adaptation to changing internal and external conditions, but also makes it vulnerable to the negative effects of stressful psychological factors. Herein, clinical conditions such as functional hypothalamic amenorrhea, eating disorders, growth faltering, post-traumatic stress disorder, and pubertal disorders that may emerge during childhood or adolescence, th...

Mitigating bisphenol A-induced apoptosis in KGN cells: the therapeutic role of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D < sub > 3 < /sub > through upregulation of PGC-1 α expression and inhibition of the mitochondrial cytochrome c pathway
CONCLUSIONS: 1,25(OH)2VD3 mitigated BPA-induced damage and apoptosis in KGN cells by upregulating the expression of PGC-1α and impeding the mitochondrial cytochrome c (Cyt c) apoptotic pathway. This study established a novel theoretical foundation for utilizing vitamin D in the treatment of PCOS patients.PMID:38421590 | DOI:10.1007/s42000-024-00539-w (Source: Hormones)
