Comparison of clinical characteristics of a pediatric cohort with combined pituitary hormone deficiency caused by mutation of the PROP1 gene or of other origins
CONCLUSION: Patients with the PROP1 mutations present a clinical picture significantly different from that of other forms of congenital hypopituitarism. Certain specific clinical results may lead to the successful identification of children requiring diagnostics for the PROP1 gene mutation.PMID:38147295 | DOI:10.1007/s42000-023-00510-1 (Source: Hormones)

Anti-M üllerian hormone: a novel biomarker for aggressive prostate cancer? Emerging evidence from a prospective study of radical prostatectomies
CONCLUSIONS: Low AMH blood levels were correlated with aggressive prostate cancer in this radical prostatectomy cohort of patients. Therefore, AMH could be a prognostic biomarker for the aggressiveness of the disease.PMID:38127275 | DOI:10.1007/s42000-023-00520-z (Source: Hormones)

Contraception as chemoprevention of ovarian cancer in BRCA1 and BRCA2 women
Hormones (Athens). 2023 Dec 19. doi: 10.1007/s42000-023-00519-6. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOvarian cancer is the seventh most common cancer in women in the world, with an estimated worldwide mortality of over 207'000 women every year. This cancer, due to the current lack of adequate screening techniques, is commonly diagnosed late and has a poor prognosis. The oral contraceptive pill is considered the most effective prevention strategy for ovarian cancer in the general population, being associated with a decreased incidence while also having a substantial positive impact on the mortality rate, which is reduced by up to...

Sex-dependent impact of obesity on aggressiveness of papillary thyroid cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Overweight and obesity were predominant independent risk factors for PTC aggressiveness in males. These data indicated that the therapeutic treatment should be based on risk stratification by BMI in males.PMID:38112916 | DOI:10.1007/s42000-023-00517-8 (Source: Hormones)
