Fluoxetine-induced Systemic Hypertension in a 12-Year-Old Girl: A Case Report
Fluoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, is an efficacious medication in social anxiety disorder with a generally well-tolerated adverse effect profile. However, infrequent side effects may occur during treatment. Here, we report a case of systemic hypertension in a 12-year-old female patient with social anxiety disorder receiving fluoxetine treatment. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of fluoxetine-induced systemic hypertension in children and adolescences. (Source: Clinical Neuropharmacology)

Lithium for Carbamazepine-Induced Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone
Conclusions Carbamazepine may sometimes be the best or only viable treatment option for patients with bipolar illness or other conditions. When its use is complicated by syndrome of inappropriate ADH, dose reduction and fluid restriction are the simplest options but, if ineffective, addition of lithium may be a feasible, albeit somewhat complicated, alternative. Flumazenil for Successful Seizure Induction With Electroconvulsive Therapy: Case Report and Literature Review
Conclusions Flumazenil, an antidote of benzodiazepines, may be effective regardless of whether benzodiazepines are in use. Because inefficient ECT is clinically problematic, more studies are necessary to investigate the effectiveness of flumazenil for successful seizure induction with ECT. Modafinil Induced Spontaneous Ejaculation Without Orgasm: A Case Report
Modafinil is used for the treatment of narcolepsy and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, and as add-on therapy for psychiatric diseases such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, schizophrenia, depression, cocaine addiction. The exact mechanism of action is unknown. Modafinil may be helpful for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation. The addition of modafinil to antidepressant treatment may provide positive effects on sexual dysfunction. However, side effects such as hypersexuality and unwanted orgasm have been reported with modafinil treatment. In this article, a patient who had developed sp...

Intravenous Immunoglobulin in the Treatment of Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood
We described 2 patients with AHC who were exposed to intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) treatment because of an alternative diagnosis. An 8-year-old girl received 4 years of periodic IVIG infusion and was free of paroxysmal events during the first 16 months of therapy. A 2-year-old boy received IVIG infusion for 10 months and remained seizure-free for 2 years since the beginning of the treatment, but without a definite change in hemiplegic episodes. Our report is the first description of IVIG use in patients with AHC. Although these patients did not achieve complete remission, partial responsiveness was noted. Although the ...

Supplementation With Dexmedetomidine for Transsphenoidal Resection of Pituitary Adenoma: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
Introduction The effect of dexmedetomidine supplementation on hemodynamic stability for transsphenoidal resection of pituitary adenoma remains controversial. We conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the influence of dexmedetomidine supplementation on hemodynamic stability for transsphenoidal resection of pituitary adenoma. Methods We have searched PubMed, EMbase, Web of science, EBSCO, and Cochrane library databases through August 2020 for randomized controlled trials assessing the effect of dexmedetomidine supplementation on transsphenoidal resection of pituitary adenoma. Results Four ...

Effects of Rivastigmine on Brain Functional Networks in Patients With Alzheimer Disease Based on the Graph Theory
Conclusions There are similar systemic network properties between patients with AD and HC. Rivastigmine cannot alter systemic network attributes in patients with AD. However, it improves the topological properties of regional networks and between-node information transmission in patients with AD. (Source: Clinical Neuropharmacology)

Botulinum Toxin Monotherapy for the Treatment of Essential Tremor: Life Quality Effect
Conclusion We believe that our study is valuable because there is no research on the effect of BoNT-A administration on ET treatment in the our country population and because the effect of BoNT-A treatment on quality of life in patients with ET was evaluated using the ET-specific QUEST scale. Patient Case Report: Memantine for the Treatment of Occipital Neuralgia
Occipital neuralgia (ON) is described as a shooting, stabbing pain in the posterior part of the scalp that involves the occipital nerve. The epidemiology and pathophysiology are uncertain, but ON is considered distinct from other headache types. At the time of this writing, memantine for the treatment of ON has not been described in the literature. The following details a case report of successful treatment of ON with memantine. A 64-year-old, 91-kg, White man presented with severe headache associated with ON. Previous trials of oral medications, acupuncture, or physical therapy did not provide relief. The patient reported...

Sertraline for Trypophobia: Report of an Adolescent Case
Trypophobia is a clinical entity that is characterized by unpleasant feelings related to or an aversion to irregular patterns of small holes or bumps. There are insufficient data about the etiological factors underlying trypophobia. It has been associated with anxiety disorders because it shows comorbidity and symptom similarity with anxiety disorders. Literature on the treatment strategies of trypophobia is somewhat limited. In this case report, we present an adolescent girl with trypophobia that is successfully treated with sertraline. (Source: Clinical Neuropharmacology)
