Outcomes and outcomes measurements used in intervention studies of pelvic girdle pain and lumbopelvic pain: a systematic review
ConclusionsA wide variety of outcomes and outcome measurements are used in studies on pelvic girdle pain and lumbopelvic pain. The findings of this review will be included in a Delphi survey to reach consensus on a pelvic girdle pain - core outcome set. This core outcome set will allow for more effective comparison between future studies on pelvic girdle pain, allowing for more effective translation of findings to clinical practice. Addition of MoodGYM to physical treatments for chronic low back pain: A randomized controlled trial
ConclusionThere was no additional benefit of an internet-delivered CBT program (MoodGYM) to physical treatments in those with chronic non-specific LBP at medium risk of ongoing disability measured at post-treatment, or at 6 and 12  months.Trial registrationThis trial was prospectively registered with Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry Number (ACTRN)12615000269538. The impact on anatomical landmark identification after an ultrasound-guided palpation intervention: a pilot study
ConclusionThis pilot study demonstrated palpatory discrepancy at identifying all three landmarks. Our data suggests that US-guided palpation intervention seems to improve an intern ’s ability to palpate two landmarks (medial meniscus and lateral malleolus) post-intervention. Promoting the use of self-management in patients with spine pain managed by chiropractors and chiropractic interns: barriers and design of a theory-based knowledge translation intervention
ConclusionsAlmost one quarter of study participants were not actively engaged in their spine care. Key barriers likely to influence uptake of SMS among patients were identified and used to inform the design of a theory-based KT intervention to increase their participation level. The proposed multi-component KT intervention may be an effective strategy to optimize the quality of spine pain care and improve patients ’ health-outcomes. Is there any benefit to adding students to the European council on chiropractic education evaluation teams and general council? An audit of stakeholders
ConclusionsThis study demonstrates the unique and positive contributions chiropractic students make to accreditation evaluation teams. The results were less positive concerning students on ECCE General Council due to the lack of specific training for their roles and the short time-frame of their membership. Therefore, the ECCE has created training workshops and expanded the time period for students on Council in order to address these issues. (Source: Chiropractic and Manual Therapies)

Implementation strategies, and barriers and facilitators for implementation of physical activity at work: a scoping review
ConclusionOur review has highlighted the multilevel factors affecting the uptake of workplace-based PA and underpins the complexities in implementation of such initiatives. The published literature predominantly provides details from the employees ’ perspectives on factors that need to be addressed and a lack of attention to these factors will cause them to hamper uptake of PA. The analysis of barriers and facilitators provides a theoretical foundation to guide future intervention design. However, further research is needed to fully underst and the success or failure of implementation processes. (Source: Chiropractic and Manual Therapies)

Where do patients with MRI-confirmed single-level radiculopathy experience pain, and what is the clinical interpretability of these pain patterns? A cross-sectional diagnostic accuracy study
ConclusionsWhile pain distribution may be an indication of radiculopathy, pain patterns from L5 or S1 nerve root compression only approximated those of sensory dermatomes, and level-specific knowledge about radicular pain patterns did not assist clinicians ’ diagnostic accuracy of the nerve root impinged. These results indicate that, on their own, pain patterns provide very limited additional diagnostic information about which individual nerve root is affected. Unravelling functional neurology: does spinal manipulation have an effect on the brain? - a systematic literature review
ConclusionThe available evidence suggests that changes occur in ‘brain function’ in response to spinal manipulation but are inconsistent across and - sometimes - within studies. The clinical relevance of these changes is unknown. It is therefore premature to promote the use of spinal manipulation as a treatment to improve ‘brain function’. Effectiveness of dry needling for improving pain and disability in adults with tension-type, cervicogenic, or migraine headaches: protocol for a systematic review
DiscussionAll analyses in this study will be based on the previous published papers. Therefore, ethical approval and patient consent are not required. The findings of this study will provide important information on the value of dry needling for the management of tension-type headache, cervicogenic headache, and migraine.Trial registrationPROSPERO registration number:CRD42019124125. Spinal epidural hematoma in a patient on chronic anticoagulation therapy performing self-neck manipulation: a case report
ConclusionsPartial C7, complete T1 and T2, and partial T3 bilateral laminectomy was performed for evacuation of the spinal epidural hematoma. Following a 2-week course of acute inpatient rehabilitation, the patient returned to his baseline functional status. This case highlights the risks of self-manipulation of the neck and potentially other activities that significantly stretch or apply torque to the cervical spine. It also presents a clinical scenario in which practitioners of spinal manipulation therapy should be aware of patients undergoing anticoagulation therapy. (Source: Chiropractic and Manual Therapies)

A perspective on Chiropractic Councils on Education accreditation standards and processes from the inside: a narrative description of expert opinion
ConclusionsAn overarching confounder for positive changes in CCE accreditation standards and processes is the inability to clearly define basic and fundamental terms such as ‘chiropractic’ and its resultant scope of practice. This is said to be because of vocal, diverse and disparate interest groups within the chiropractic profession. Silence or nebulous definitions negotiated in order to allow a diversity of chiropractic practice to co-exist, appears to have compli cated and hindered the activities of CCEs. Recommendations are made including an adoption of an evidence-based approach to accreditation standards and proc...

Assessing attitudes of patient-centred care among students in international chiropractic educational programs: a cross-sectional survey
ConclusionThis is the first international study assessing students ’ attitudes of patient-centred care in chiropractic educational programs. We found small but significantly different PPOS scores between chiropractic programs worldwide that did not change across year/semester of study. Scores tended to be lower than those reported among medical students. Observed differences may be related to curricular content, extent of patient exposure and/or regional cultural realities. A perspective on Councils on Chiropractic Education accreditation standards and processes from the inside: a narrative description of expert opinion
ConclusionsExpert opinions lead us to conclude that CCEs should embrace and pursue the widely accepted mainstream healthcare standards of an evidence-based approach and place the interests of the patient above that of the profession. Recommendations are made to this end with the intent of improving CCE standards and processes of accreditation. (Source: Chiropractic and Manual Therapies)
