Comparison of walking variations during treadmill walking test between neurogenic and vascular claudication: a crossover study
ConclusionThe test was able to distinguish neurogenic from vascular or nLBP related claudication. Effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions on sleep characteristics among adults with musculoskeletal pain and a comorbid sleep problem: a systematic review
AbstractSleep problems are common and may be associated with persistent pain. It is unclear whether non-pharmacological interventions improve sleep and pain in adults with comorbid sleep problems and musculoskeletal (MSK) pain. We conducted a systematic review on the effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions on sleep characteristics among adults with MSK pain and comorbid sleep problems. We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, Cochrane Central and PsycINFO from inception to April 2, 2021 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs), cohort, and case-control studies. Pairs of independent reviewers critically appraised and ...

The Danish sports chiropractic landscape: an exploration of practice characteristics and salient developmental issues
ConclusionThe Danish sports chiropractor tends to be male, has a specialist education and engages other chiropractors, medical practitioners and professional trainers more often as practice partners than generalist chiropractors. The position of the sports chiropractor as a ‘knowledgeable expert’ was seen as more important than establishing a protected title. Experiential training appears to be an untapped resource for developing real-world competency and gaining greater professional exposure. Given the potential for development across Europe, more focus is require d on a strategic plan for embedding chiropractic profe...

It ’s not my fault although it might be: chiropractic practice and vicarious liability
ConclusionPractice owners may unexpectedly find themselves legally liable for another ’s actions with dire consequences. A knowledge of vicarious liability along with implementing risk mitigation strategies has the potential to minimize the likelihood of this unwanted event. Recommendations are made to this end. Inter-examinerreliability study of physical examination procedures to assess the cervical spine
ConclusionsMost physical examination procedures examined in this study demonstrated moderate to excellent levels of inter-examiner reliability. Palpation for segmental mobility without pain provocation demonstrated a lower level of reliability compared to palpation for pain provocation. Correlation with clinical findings is necessary to establish validity and the applicability of these procedures in clinical practice. (Source: Chiropractic and Manual Therapies)

European guidelines on radiographic image quality in chiropractic practice – proposal of a cross-sectional graded classification reporting principle
ConclusionA reporting principle is proposed for a graded classification format based on the CEC-quality criteria for diagnostic radiographic images of the lumbar spine. The Quality Criteria are for the most part met satisfactorily in 148 Danish chiropractic clinics, but important image details are compromised, in most cases, because of low patient radiation doses. The results of a patient radiation dose survey enabled documentation of variation in radiation exposure among chiropractic clinics. (Source: Chiropractic and Manual Therapies)

The global end-ranges of neck flexion and extension do not represent the maximum rotational ranges of the cervical intervertebral joints in healthy adults - an observational study
ConclusionThis is the first study to categorise joints by type of motion. It cannot be assumed that end-range is a demonstration of a joint ’s maximum motion, as type S constituted approximately half of the joints analysed in this study. (Source: Chiropractic and Manual Therapies)

Chiropractic case reports: a review and bibliometric analysis
ConclusionChiropractic CRs are diversifying from spine-related topics. Chiropractors are encouraged to publish objective, structured CRs within defined research gaps. Published CRs can inform the design of future research studies with a higher level of clinical relevance and evidence. (Source: Chiropractic and Manual Therapies)

The effect of chiropractic care on infantile colic: results from a single-blind randomised controlled trial
ConclusionExcessive crying was reduced by half an hour in favor of the group receiving chiropractic care compared with the control group, but not at a statistically significant level after adjustments. From a clinical perspective, the mean difference between the groups was small, but there were large individual differences, which emphasizes the need to investigate if subgroups of children, e.g. those with musculoskeletal problems, benefit more than others from chiropractic care.Trial registrationClinical TrialsNCT02595515, registered 2 November 2015 (Source: Chiropractic and Manual Therapies)

Identifying potential treatment effect modifiers of the effectiveness of chiropractic care to infants with colic  through prespecified secondary analyses of a randomised controlled trial
ConclusionMusculoskeletal indicators were not shown to be predictive of an increased benefit for colicky infants from chiropractic treatment. However, increased benefit was associated with early treatment and a high level of baseline crying, suggesting that the most severely affected infants have the greatest potential of benefiting from manual therapy. This finding requires validation by future studies.Trial registrationClinical TrialsNCT02595515, registered 2 November 2015. (Source: Chiropractic and Manual Therapies)
