Development of Anisotropic Electrically Conductive GNP-reinforced PCL-Collagen Scaffold for Enhanced Neurogenic Differentiation under Electrical Stimulation
This study develops cost-effective electroconductive scaffolds for regenerative medicine. This was achieved by incorporating carboxy functionalized graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) into a Polycaprolactone (PCL)-collagen matrix. ES was used to assess the scaffolds' propensity to boost neuronal differentiation from MSCs. This study reported that aligned GNP-reinforced PCL-Collagen scaffolds demonstrate substantial MSC differentiation with ES. This work effectively develops scaffolds using a simple, cost-effective synthesis approach. The direct coupling approach generated a homogeneous electric field to stimulate cells cultivate...

Chem Asian J. 2024 Mar 28:e202400055. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400055. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn order to solve typical problems of instability in a variety of environments, lack of self-healing ability and poor mechanical properties of traditional hydrogel materials, herein, a superelastic self-healing eutectogel of DPMS was designed and prepared in a deep eutectic solvent (DES) system using poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) as the bulk skeleton material, while two-dimensional MXene (Ti3C2TX) nanosheets and silk fibroin (SF) as reinforcing fillers. As a result, the prepared DPMS eutectogel possesses a high tensile strength of ...

Biocompatible Gold Nanoparticles-Modified Fluorine Doped Tin Oxide Electrode for the Fabrication of Enzyme-Free Glucose Sensor
Chem Asian J. 2024 Mar 28:e202400074. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400074. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis work demonstrates the use of jute stick extract as a reducing and stabilizing agent for the synthesis of spherical gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). In UV-Vis spectroscopy, peak at 550 nm was used to confirm the formation of AuNPs. The spherical surface morphology of AuNPs was determined through SEM and TEM analysis. While XRD investigation revealed the crystallinity of the prepared AuNPs. To ensure the biocompatibility of synthesized AuNPs, a bacterial investigation was conducted with negative results towards bacterial strain. ...

Ultrasonic-Assisted Nitrate Anion Incorporation in Triaminoguanidium Chloride Based Covalent Organic Polymer  For Methylene Blue Dye Adsorption
Chem Asian J. 2024 Mar 27:e202400046. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400046. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTerephthalaldehyde-triaminoguanidium chloride covalent organic polymer, Te-TGCl COP can facilely be incorporated with NaNO3 by sonication. Te-TGCl COP incorporated with NaNO3 via ultrasonication adsorbs Methylene Blue (MB) dye. Te-TGCl COP alone shows negligible adsorption capacity for MB, however, when treated with NaNO3, its adsorption capacity emerges slightly. However, Te-TGCl-NaNO3 COP composite resulting from ultrasonication of the NaNO3 treated COP, showed dramatic increase in its adsorption capacity for MB (qe for Te-TG...

Aggregation-Induced Emission of Naphthalene Diimides: Effect of Chain Length on Liquid and Solid-Phase Emissive Properties
Chem Asian J. 2024 Mar 25:e202400152. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400152. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties of a systematic series of naphthalene diimides (NDIs) varying the chain length at the imide positions have been studied. A solvophobic collapse of NDI units through the flash injection of THF NDI solutions in sonicating water triggers the formation of stable suspensions with enhanced fluorescence emissions. Shorter chains favor the π-π stacking of NDI units through H-aggregation producing a strong AIE effect showing remarkably high quantum yields that have not been observed fo...

CO2-Free Ethylene Oxide Production via Liquid-Phase Epoxidation with Fe2O3/MSM Catalyst
In this study, we present an approach for ethylene oxide (EO) production that addresses environmental concerns by eliminating greenhouse gas emissions. Our catalyst, Fe2O3/MSM, was synthesized using a hydrothermal method, incorporating Fe2O3 nanoparticles into a well-structured mesoporous silica matrix (MSM). We selected peracetic acid as the oxidant, enabling CO2-free EO production while yielding valuable by-products such as acetic acid, monoethylene glycol, and diethylene glycol. X-ray diffraction (XRD), X- ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analyses confirmed the heteroatom structure ...

Ligand-free MnBr2-Catalyzed Chemo- and Stereoselective Hydroboration of Terminal Alkynes
Chem Asian J. 2024 Mar 21:e202400158. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400158. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDeveloping simple and benign protocols for synthesizing alkenylboronates is crucial as they are synthetically valuable compounds in various organic transformations. In this work, we report a straightforward ligand-free protocol for synthesizing alkenylboronates via atom-economical hydroboration of alkynes with HBpin catalyzed by a manganese salt. The reaction shows a high level of chemo and regioselectivity for the terminal alkynes and exclusively produces E-selective alkenylboronates. The hydroboration scope is vast, with the ...

Quinone methide based self-immobilizing molecular fluorescent probes for in situ imaging of enzymes
Chem Asian J. 2024 Mar 21:e202400189. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400189. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEnzymes play important roles not only in normal physiological processes but in the development of many diseases. In situ imaging of enzymes with high-resolution in living systems would helpful for clinical diagnosis and treatment. However, many molecular fluorescent probes suffer from the drawback of diffusing away from the reaction site of enzymes even out of the cells, losing the in situ information and resulting in poor imaging resolution. Quinone methide (QM) based self-immobilizing probes allow the fluorescent signal to be...
