Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 23:e202400305. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400305. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDesigning and developing photosensitizers with cell membrane specificity is crucial for achieving effective multimodal therapy of tumors compared to other organelles. Here, we designed and screened a photosensitizer CM34 through donor/receptor regulation strategies, and it is able to achieve long-retention cell membrane targeting. It is not only an extremely excellent cell membrane targeted tumor theranostic agent, but also found to be a promising potential immune activator. Specifically, CM34 with a larger intramolecular twist...

Reductive anti-Dizincation of Arylacetylenes
Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 22:e202400384. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400384. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTArylacetylenes undergo anti-1,2-dizincation to afford trans-1,2-dizincioalkenes. The process employs sodium dispersion as a reducing agent and zinc chloride TMEDA complex as a reduction-resistant zinc electrophile. This reductive anti-dizincation contrasts with the conventional additive syn-dimetalation like silylzincation. The resulting dizincated alkenes undergo the cross-coupling to yield multi-substituted alkenes stereoselectively.PMID:38647096 | DOI:10.1002/asia.202400384 (Source: Chemistry, an Asian Journal)

Reactivity of a Linear 2-Germapropadiene with Acids, Ketones, and Amines
Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 22:e202400262. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400262. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe reactivity of an isolable 2-germapropadiene with acids, ketones, and amines was investigated. The reactions of 2-germapropagiene 1 with hydrogen chloride and acetic acid afforded the corresponding dichlorogermane (2) and diacetoxygermane (3), respectively, indicating that the central germanium atom of 1 is electrophilic. The reaction of 1 with benzaldehyde proceeds via a formal [2+2] cycloaddition to afford the corresponding spiro compound (4). Moreover, 1 reacts smoothly with acetone to furnish germane 5, which contains a ...

Influence of Surface Basic sites and Oxygen Vacancies on the Performance of Metal-Modified Rod-Like Ceria Catalysts for Low-Temperature Hydrolysis of Carbonyl Sulfide
This study utilized a hydrothermal method to synthesize various metal-modified rod-like ceria catalysts (Fe, Co, Cu, Ni, La), achieving efficient COS removal at low temperatures. The research identified surface oxygen vacancies and basic sites as critical factors that influence the catalytic performance of COS hydrolysis. The addition of different metals to pristine ceria rods increased the specific surface area, oxygen vacancy content (Ov), and basicity, which enhanced the catalysts' sulfur resistance and stability. Among all the catalysts tested, 10La-CeO2 demonstrated the highest COS removal rate. This is because La dop...

Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 19:e202400292. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400292. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCu catalysts with different compositions and different Cu and promoter contents were prepared by precipitation-gel method and studied for the selective hydrogenation of syngas or biomass-based diethyl malonate (DEM) to valuable 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PDO). The Ga-promoted 70Cu6Ga/SiO2 catalyst was found to exhibit the highest catalytic performance, achieving 100% DEM conversion and 76.6% 1,3-PDO selectivity under reaction conditions of 160 °C and 8 MPa H2. The 70Cu6Ga/SiO2 bimetallic catalyst also presented obviously better stab...

Cobalt-Based Nanoscale Material: An Emerging Electrocatalyst for Hydrogen Production
Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 19:e202400209. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400209. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTModern civilization has been highly suffered from energy crisis and environmental pollutions. These two burning issues are directly and indirectly created from fossil fuel consumption and uncontrolled industrialization. The above critical issue can be solved through the proper utilization of green energy sources where no greenhouse gases will be generated upon burning of such system. Hydrogen is the most eligible candidate for this purpose. Among various methods of hydrogen generation, electrocatalytic process is one of the mos...

Diminishing Self-Discharge of High-Loading Li-S Batteries with Oxygen-rich Biomass Carbon Interlayers
Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 19:e202400177. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400177. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLithium-sulfur batteries (Li-S) have possessed gratifying development in the past decade due to their high theoretical energy density. However, the severe polysulfide shuttling provokes undesirable self-discharge effect, leading to low energy efficiency in Li-S batteries. Herein, an interlayer composed of oxygen-rich carbon nanosheets (OCN) derived from bagasse is elaborated to suppress the shuttle effect and reduce the resultant self-discharge effect. The OCN interlayer is able to physically block the shuttling behavior of pol...

Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 19:e202400288. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400288. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA novel fluorogenic alkyl diazirine photocrosslinker bearing an o-hydroxycinnamate moiety has been developed for identification of the targets of bioactive molecules. The o-hydroxycinnamate moiety can be converted to the corresponding 7-hydroxycoumarin derivative, which should be created on the interacting site within the photocaptured target protein. The label yield and fluorescence intensity have been immensely improved in comparison with our previous aromatic crosslinkers to facilitate target identification in small quantiti...

Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 18:e202400218. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400218. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe have successfully synthesized a new Ni(II)-based coordination polymer (CP) [Ni2(cis-1,4-chdc)2(4,4'-bpy)3(H2O)2] (1); (cis-1,4- H2chdc = cis-1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid and 4,4'-bpy = 4,4'-bipyridine) employing slow diffusion method in a single pot technique. The connectivity of Ni(II) ions and bridging cis-1,4-chdc ligand gives rise to a three-dimensional (3D) framework with 2-fold interpenetrated diamondoid topology. Interestingly, the synthesized CP acts as efficient catalyst for electrocatalytic water splitting. The...

Modelling on a Biomimetic [Cu-O-Cu]2+-mediated Methane-to-Methanol Conversion Unveils the Site for Methane Activation
Chem Asian J. 2024 Apr 16:e202400282. doi: 10.1002/asia.202400282. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe Cu-O-Cu core exhibits methane-to-methanol conversion, mirroring the reactivity of the copper-containing enzyme pMMO. Herein, we computationally examined the reactivity of a biomimetic Cu-O-Cu core towards methane-to-methanol conversion. The oxygen atom of the Cu-O-Cu core abstracts hydrogen present in the C-H bond of methane. The spin density at the bridging oxygen helps to abstract hydrogen from the C-H bond. We modulated the spin density of the bridging oxygen by substituting only a single copper atom of the Cu-O-Cu core ...
