Bi- and tridentate coordination behaviour of a novel bis(phosphinimino)methanide ligand
Chem Asian J. 2024 Jan 10:e202301084. doi: 10.1002/asia.202301084. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHerein, we report the synthesis of a novel ferrocenyl-functionalized bis(phosphinimino)methane ligand (CH2 (PPh2 NFc)2 ). Deprotonation of CH2 (PPh2 NFc)2 with KN(SiMe3 )2 gave the dimeric species [K{CH(PPh2 NFc)2 }]2 , which was further reacted with ECl2 (E=Ge, Sn) to yield the tetrylene compounds [{CH(PPh2 NFc)2 }ECl]. The ligand and the resulting tetrylenes were examined for their electrochemical properties with the aid of cyclic voltammetry. Furthermore, the reaction of the tetrylenes [{CH(PPh2 NFc)2 }ECl] with [AuC6 F5 (th...

HSA over BSA: Selective detection of Human Serum Albumin via a naphtho [2,1-b] furan-based system
Chem Asian J. 2024 Jan 8:e202301055. doi: 10.1002/asia.202301055. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHuman serum albumin (HSA) is an important biomarker that can be used for the early diagnosis of many diseases. In this work, a TICT probe bearing fused naphtho-furan scaffold (NPNF) was developed and employed in the selective turn-on sensing of HSA. The probe's selectivity towards HSA was observed using steady-state fluorescence experiments, with limit of quantitation in micromolar levels. NPNF's capability to exclusively detect HSA over BSA was further studied/rationalized using anisotropy and time-resolved studies. Molecular d...

Rapid and Practical Synthesis of gem-Dibromoalkanes from Aldehydes by Tribromide Reagent
Chem Asian J. 2024 Jan 6:e202301087. doi: 10.1002/asia.202301087. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTgem-Dibromoalkanes are important synthetic building block in organic chemistry, but their preparation is still troublesome. Herein, we have developed a simple and practical protocol for the synthesis of gem-dibromoalkanes from aldehydes using tetrabutylammonium tribromide and triphenyl phosphite. A variety of alkyl and aromatic aldehydes can be transformed into the corresponding products within 10 minutes. This protocol is also applicable to alcohols, and the configuration of chiral alcohol is inverted during the process with ex...

Synthesis, Photophysical Properties and Self-Assembly of a Tetraphenylethylene-Naphthalene Diimide Donor-Acceptor Molecule
This study introduces the synthesis and detailed self-assembly analysis of tetraphenylethylene (TPE) functionalized naphthalene diimide (NDI), a novel donor-acceptor molecular structure referred to as TPE-NDI. The investigation specifically focuses on elucidating the self-assembly behavior of TPE-NDI in mixed solvents of varying polarities, namely chloroform: methylcyclohexane (CHCl3: MCH) and chloroform: methanol (CHCl3: MeOH). Employing a several analytical methodologies, including UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence emission spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and dynamic light scat...

Utilising a Proton-Responsive 1,8-Naphthyridine Ligand for the Synthesis of Bimetallic Palladium and Platinum Complexes
We present four proton-responsive palladium and platinum complexes, [MCl2(RPONNHO)] (M = Pd, Pt; R = iPr, tBu) synthesised by complexation of PdCl2 or PtCl2(COD) with the 1,8-naphthyridine ligand RPONNHO. Deprotonation of [MCl2(tBuPONNHO)] switches the ligand coordination from mono- to dinucleating, offering a synthetic pathway to bimetallic PdII and PtII complexes [M2Cl2(tBuPONNO)2]. Two-electron reduction gives planar MI-MI complexes [M2(tBuPONNO)2] (M = Pd, Pt) containing a metal-metal bond. In contrast to the related nickel system that forms a metallophosphorane [Ni2(tBuPONNOPONNO)], an unusual phosphinite binding mode...

One Pot Synthesis of Two Distinct Macrocycles: Aromatic p-Benzihexaphyrin and Nonaromatic Doubly Fused p-Benzihexaphyrin
Chem Asian J. 2023 Dec 29:e202301041. doi: 10.1002/asia.202301041. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAromatic trithia p-benzihexaphyrins and nonaromatic doubly fused trithia p-benzihexaphyrins were synthesized in a one pot reaction by condensing a p-benzithiophene based tetrapyrrane with three different bithiophene diols under acid catalyzed conditions. The aromatic and nonaromatic macrocycles showed clear differences in colour, NMR, absorption, and electrochemical properties. Theoretical studies supported the observed aromatic and nonaromatic characteristics, respectively, of the p-benzihexaphyrins and their N-fused derivativ...

Recent Progress in Janus  Nano-Objects with Asymmetric Polymer Brushes
Chem Asian J. 2023 Dec 29:e202301023. doi: 10.1002/asia.202301023. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOver the past few decades, Janus materials have drawn much interest owing to the combination of two different functionalities on the opposite sides. Janus nano-objects (JNOs) with asymmetric polymer brushes are one unique material of them, which consist of a polymeric or inorganic core and asymmetric polymer chains coated on the core. Combining the properties of nanomaterials, asymmetric structures and flexible polymer brushes, hairy JNOs have shown great potential in interfacial compatibilization, interfacial catalysis, oil-wa...
