Ciliary Body Leiomyoma
The report aims to present the case of intraocular leiomyoma. We conducted a case study on a patient who presented with an intraocular tumour. After examination, including magnetic resonance, positron emission tomography with computed tomography, B-scan, we performed surgery – enucleation of the eye globe with histological verification of tumour mass. Histological analysis of enucleated eyes proved intraocular leiomyoma. Leiomyoma is a rare intraocular tumour, which is clinically challenging to recognize; therefore, histological confirmation is most often required.Case Rep Ophthalmol 2022;13:259 –264 (Source: Case Repo...

Macular Hole Formation Following Intravitreal Aflibercept for Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration
This case report describes full-thickness macular hole formation after intravitreal aflibercept injections for the treatment of macular neovascularization in neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Only limited case reports and case series have reported this possible adverse event after aflibercept injection. Possible mechanisms leading to the formation of a macular hole subsequent to intravitreal injection are focal tractional forces on the vitreoretinal interface due to globe deformation during needle insertion, vitreous syneresis, and vitreous incarceration at the injection site, and tangential shearing forc...

Simultaneous Vitreoretinal Surgery and Sclerokeratoplasty for Keratoglobus with Intraocular Hemorrhage and Extensive Corneal Rupture
We reported a case of simultaneous vitrectomy and sclerokeratoplasty (SKP) performed for keratoglobus with extensive corneal rupture and intraocular hemorrhage caused by trauma. A 73-year-old woman was treated for keratoglobus and glaucoma. She was punched in both eyes, her right eye showed corneal rupture and the left eye showed prolapse of the ocular contents due to eyeball rupture. She immediately underwent corneal sutures in the right eye and resection of the prolapsed ocular contents in the left eye at a nearby ophthalmological clinic. Three days after the injury, the patient was referred to our clinic for vision reco...

Choroidal Macrovessel Diagnosed on Multimodal Imaging, including Swept-Source Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography
Choroidal macrovessel (CM) is a rare anomalous vascular lesion in the choroid. In this case report, we describe a 72-year-old Caucasian man diagnosed with an incidental heavily branching CM in the macula of his right eye based on multimodal imaging, including enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (OCT), swept-source OCT angiography, and indocyanine green angiography. Multimodal imaging is valuable in demonstrating the distinctive appearance of this entity and differentiating it from more vision-threatening differential diagnoses, such as ophthalmomyiasis interna, choroidal neoplasms, retinochoroidal anastomos...

Orbital Cellulitis following COVID-19 Vaccination
A 72-year-old male patient was referred to our outpatient clinic with a painful left eye protrusion accompanied by marked conjunctival chemosis and external ophthalmoplegia being progressed despite topical and oral antibiotic therapy. He developed ocular symptoms 9 days after receiving his second SARS-CoV-2 vaccine (VeroCell). Of note, in previous history, 2 weeks after the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, he also developed a life-threatening laryngeal oedema treated at an emergency care unit. MRI of the orbit excluded pansinusitis as possible origin of the orbital cellulitis, and repeated COVID-19 antigen and antibody ...

Coexisting Choroidal and Brain Metastases in a Patient with Breast Cancer Treated with Stereotactic Radiotherapy
We report a case of a 37-year-old female with a history of breast cancer who had a sudden blurred vision in her right eye. An ophthalmologic assessment revealed a dome-shaped lesion and a secondary retinal detachment with subretinal fluid in the left eye, suggestive of choroidal metastasis. Moreover, an MRI scan showed the presence of a single brain lesion. The patient was treated with stereotactic radiotherapy, with 300 cGy for 10 days. Six months after treatment, there was a regression of the mass and improvement of visual acuity. Stereotactic radiotherapy is a safe and effective treatment for choroidal metastases and sh...

Histopathology of Intraocular Medulloepithelioma following Iodine-125 Plaque Brachytherapy
We report the case of a 15-year-old female with a medulloepithelioma who underwent enucleation following plaque brachytherapy. To our knowledge, this is the first report of the histopathological findings of medulloepithelioma following brachytherapy. Histopathology revealed radiation-related changes such as hyalinized vessels, photoreceptor atrophy, degenerative changes of the retina, and preretinal fibrous tissue. Additionally, the retinal nerve fiber layer showed signs of cystoid edema. Subretinal fluid, not commonly associated with medulloepithelioma, was also noted on histology; interestingly, it was seen adjacent to t...
