Characterization of rat vertebrae cortical bone microstructures using confocal Raman microscopy combined to tomography and electron microscopy
CONCLUSIONS: Micro-CT and confocal Raman microscopy are good tools to complete classical analysis using optical and electron microscopy. The results and measurements presented in a rat model known for its small inter-individual differences provide the main characteristics of a mature bone. This study will allow the community working on this rat vertebrate model to have a set of characteristics, in particular on the structure of the haversian canals.PMID:37774934 | DOI:10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152162 (Source: Annals of Anatomy)

Morphological variability of the fibularis brevis tendon in human fetuses
CONCLUSION: The fibularis brevis is characterized by high morphological variability. The proposed classification consists of three main Types (I-III), with Type II divided into subtypes (A-D). The fibularis digiti quinti is not closely related to the type of fibularis brevis tendon.PMID:37757974 | DOI:10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152154 (Source: Annals of Anatomy)

Histomorphological analysis of the superficial musculoaponeurotic system in Macaca mulatta species
CONCLUSIONS: SMAS is a complex fibro-musculo-adipose tissue network and probably an important pivot in Macaca mulatta facial system supporting mimic expression. This study provided insights into MmSMAS typology and similarity with human SMAS tissue morphology.PMID:37741583 | DOI:10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152161 (Source: Annals of Anatomy)

Exploring somatosensory innervation of the human lip: A focus on the vermilion
CONCLUSIONS: These results demonstrate that the sensory corpuscles of the vermilion are a mixture of those typical of glabrous skin mucocutaneous tissues. The presence of PIEZO2 and ASIC2 in their axons suggests that these sensory corpuscles function as mechanosensors.PMID:37741584 | DOI:10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152159 (Source: Annals of Anatomy)

General morphological characteristics of the results of experimental modeling of aseptic peritonitis
CONCLUSION: During the experiment on implantation of a xenogenic substrate in the form of flat bundles made from the catgut thread into the peritoneal cavity of sexually mature male rats, it was found for the first time that their acceptors were not only the greater omentum, but also two derivatives of the peritoneum, homeomorphic to it and associated with the epididymides, which we reasonably called epididymal omenta and described in details.PMID:37739240 | DOI:10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152160 (Source: Annals of Anatomy)

Vulnerable in the end - Longitudinal study among medical students on mental health and personal and work-related resources over a 5.5-year-period
CONCLUSIONS: Our participants reflect a development of mental health during their medical studies at university that is paving the way to the devastating prevalence of mental disorders and suicide in health professionals. From our results we derive an urgent need to integrate self-care and active coping in the learning goals of medical curricula.PMID:37683899 | DOI:10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152155 (Source: Annals of Anatomy)
