Clinical anatomy of the lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerve: is there any safe zone for interventional approach?
CONCLUSION: The study provides morphological data on the LACN distribution, branching pattern and relationship to surrounding structures in a context of clinical use in different spheres of medicine. The branching pattern of the LACN appears to be more constant compared to data provided by previous authors. We emphasized the meaning of cross-sectional relationship of the LACN to the CV to avoid venipuncture outside the cubital fossa if possible. The posterior branch of the LACN was predicted as appropriate donor of the graft for a digital nerve. The LACN appeared to be in a close proximity within the whole length of the br...

Pathways and morphologic pattern of BLOOD SUPPLY OF EPICARDIAL GANGLIONATED NERVE PLEXUS
This study addresses this by mapping the routes and morphological pattern of blood supply to the epicardial GP in a large-animal pig model (Sus scrofa domesticus). Twenty-five domestic pigs were used in the study. We demonstrate that the epicardial ganglionated nerves receive blood from both coronary and extra-cardiac arteries. The coronary arterial branches supply blood to all five subplexuses constituting the epicardial GP. In contrast, the branches of extra-cardiac arteries supply blood to target heart areas: 1) the venous part of the heart hilum on the left atrium, 2) the walls of the sinuses of the right cranial (supe...

Regenerative Effect of Microcarrier Form of Acellular Dermal Matrix Versus Bone Matrix bio-scaffolds Loaded with Adipose Stem Cells on Rat Bone Defect
CONCLUSIONS: We concluded that decellularized scaffolds significantly improved compact bone regeneration with superiority of ASCs seeded-bone scaffolds.PMID:38128745 | DOI:10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152203 (Source: Annals of Anatomy)

Immunohistochemical detection of piezo1 and piezo2 in human digital meissner ´s corpuscles
CONCLUSIONS: PIEZO1 and PIEZO2 are expressed exclusively in the axon of a subpopulation of human digital Meissner corpuscles, thus suggesting that not only PIEZO2, but also PIEZO1 may be involved in the mechanotransduction from low-threshold mechanoreceptors.PMID:38109982 | DOI:10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152200 (Source: Annals of Anatomy)

Challenges to sourcing human bodies for teaching and research in Africa: Are the challenges insurmountable?
Ann Anat. 2023 Dec 6:152196. doi: 10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152196. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe teaching and learning of human anatomy by dissection has existed for thousands of years. Over the centuries, evolving ethical considerations for the sourcing of human bodies for dissection have resulted in a transition from the use of unconsented individuals to that of body donors and the institution of body donation programmes around the world. However, major challenges on the Africa continent have resulted in the continued use of unconsented or unclaimed bodies and the ethical dilemma for African anatomy departments regarding...
