Vgf modifications related to dopaminergic neurodegeneration induced by the pesticide fipronil in adult male rats
CONCLUSION: Fipronil has the ability to modulate the production of pro-VGF and/or its C-terminal truncated peptides in the nigrostriatal system indicating its intimate interaction with the dopaminergic mechanisms and implying a potential function in modulating locomotor activity.PMID:38056781 | DOI:10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152194 (Source: Annals of Anatomy)

Investigation of the variability of the pterygomandibular space from the point of view of the target point of the inferior alveolar nerve block
CONCLUSION: The data obtained determine the differences in the volume of the PMS in individuals with different shapes of the skull, face and mandible, as well as sex differences. Thus, indicating the need to take into account these features when choosing the required amount of anesthetic in clinical practice. The average volume of the PMS space, according to our data, is 1.8-2.0ml, which is consistent with the clinical data described in the literature.PMID:38056782 | DOI:10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152197 (Source: Annals of Anatomy)

The legal and ethical framework governing body donation in Europe - 2nd update on current practice
CONCLUSIONS: We still see that a clear and rigorous legal framework is still unavailable in several countries. We found national regulations in 18 out of 39 countries; two others have at least federal laws. Several countries accept not only donated bodies but also utilise unclaimed bodies. These findings can guide policymakers in reviewing and updating existing laws and regulations related to body donation and anatomical studies.PMID:38042354 | DOI:10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152195 (Source: Annals of Anatomy)

Three-dimensional analysis of the alveolar ridge profiles of maxillary central incisors in children for autotransplantation
CONCLUSIONS: Within the limits of this study, the anatomy of the alveolar ridge in the maxillary central incisors showed sufficient capacity as a recipient site for autotransplantation using mandibular premolars, especially in males. These findings serve as a valuable resource for facilitating autotransplantation in children.PMID:38016625 | DOI:10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152193 (Source: Annals of Anatomy)

New insights in the renal distribution profile of TRPC3 - Of mice and men
Ann Anat. 2023 Nov 15;252:152192. doi: 10.1016/j.aanat.2023.152192. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSeveral reports previously investigated the Transient Receptor Potential Canonical subfamily channel 3 (TRPC3) in the kidney. However, most of the conclusions are based on animal samples or cell cultures leaving the door open for human tissue investigations. Moreover, results often disagreed among investigators. Histological description is lacking since most of these studies focused on functional aspects. Nevertheless, the same reports highlighted the potential key-role of TRPC3 in renal disorders. Hence, our interest to inves...
