Employment benefits - written in contract?
Hi I am reviewing a physician employment contract from a large group and they don’t mention medical insurance as a benefit in the contract. They have a brochure with multiple options from a national carrier. Is this something I need to be concerned about? It seems strange not to include it as a benefit in writing. In-House EMG / NCS Testing
I'm a physical therapist board certified in clinical electrophysiology (more @ the bottom to answer FAQs). I do EMG/NCS full-time and I have provided over 4,000 studies to MDs/DOs at their practice locations. This has been a mix of “incident to” billing and being directly credentialed with payers (billing under my NPI). 1. Are podiatric physicians able to bill my services “incident to” ? 2. What are the most common reasons DPMs order EMG studies? e.g. insurance requires proof of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Do I HAVE to get disability insurance?
I know disability insurance is important and that you can't predict what could happen in your life and to your health. Most attendings have told me to get it (except one radiologist I know who said it's not necessary until later in life when I have a family to feed). But just wondering if there are people out there that didn't get it, and what was your reasoning? I really don't want to get it but I just feel so pressured. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

School insurance for mental healthcare?
*Please do not quote* I am debating whether to opt for the insurance that my school offers or to get outside insurance (similar cost if I want good coverage). I don’t think I qualify for Medicaid unfortunately because I will have worked this year prior to matriculating. My main concern is that I see a psychiatrist and occasionally a therapist for well-managed mental health issues and I am worried about using school insurance for this. I’ve read a lot of threads on SDN saying you shouldn’t... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Chances of getting residency interviews or matching with a misdemeanor
Hi, Everyone. I am applying for residency for the family medicine match 2023 circle. I had a misdemeanor conviction in 2019 for driving without car registration and insurance. the state doesn't expunge records. I have beaten myself up these past months for the terrible mistake and wanted to know if there are any chances programs would give me an interview or a possible match. what are your thoughts? any stories of any who went through a similar situation? do anyone know of medical graduates... Asset Protection
We’re getting an au pair and she will be driving a car that I own. I will be paying for the insurance. I’m assuming that she will crash my car at some point. 1. Does setting up an LLC and registering the LLC as the owner of the vehicle do anything to limit my personal liability? Do I list my home address as the company address? 2. How does insuring the vehicle work? I ideally wouldn’t want to have her under my plan. If this is a “company vehicle” can we have multiple registered drivers... How to answer this criminal offense question?
The question is: Have you ever been convicted of or pled guilty or no contest to, any moving traffic violations (moving violations include speeding tickets)? If yes, please explain fully below (include information even if charges were dropped, dismissed, or otherwise mitigated). No Surpises Act in layman's terms?
Maybe it's because I don't do my own billing but I really could use some help here. Can I get help understanding how the No Surprises Act works in the world of Anesthesia? Let's use a simple case report to analyze: - Insured patient comes for appendectomy, receives surgery. - Afterward it was found that surgeon, emergency physician, and facility are in-network, covered by their insurance company hypothetically named INSURANCECOMPANY - Anesthesiologist is deemed out-of-network by... malpractice insurance
Hey, I was wondering if anyone has any input on malpractice insurance companies they'd recommend? I am a soon to be attending in psychiatry and there are so many companies I'm not sure where to start. I will only be working part time and practice in WI if that helps. I am not as much concerned about price. I am more concerned about ensuring there is good coverage and service should a patient ever file a claim against me (no one in mind of course, but you never know, I've still got my whole... Should I keep my own-occupation disability insurance now that I'm working non-clinically?
(Forgive me as this isn't related to Anesthesiology, but this seems to be one of the more active attending forums) I got a pretty basic own-occupation disability insurance policy back in residency. I recently left clinical medicine and I'm looking for opinions on what to do with this policy moving forward. On the one hand, I don't know anyone outside of medicine who has an extra disability insurance policy--people just use whatever is available as a benefit through their job. On the other... Will a dental career count as clinical experience?
I'm a non-trad career changer just starting my pre-med journey. I've been a dental hygienist for 5 years and was working front desk/ insurance before that. I definitely plan on shadowing physicians as well as volunteering in my local emergency room, but I was curious if my patient care experience as a hygienist will be looked upon favorably. Is it comparable to something like a medical assistant? I do a lot of similar things like vitals, med review, injections, and in my state have the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
