Hello, I will be a MS1 in the fall and was wondering what materials or strategies that you guys suggest will help me study for tests in med school? Just trying to get a list of materials so I can get ahead and see what materials I will be comfortable with as study aids. Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

using TCAs
I have to admit, I have not had terribly many experiences with TCAs in more medically complicated cases. Every once in a while I run into a case of someone who has treatment resistant depressive sx and issues with sleeping, failure of multiple medications and I have considered TCAs. I know other options are the newer sleep aids and antidepressants. But I was curious to see how other people are practicing. What kinds of medical comorbidities make you very hesitant to consider a TCA, which... using TCAs (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Political activities on application? Help or Harm?
I know this question has been asked before, but they're all pretty old and considering our current political climate I wanted some updated opinions. I'm passionate about politics. I spent quite a bit of time canvassing for the Hillary for America campaign. I regularly participate in activism. I'm very active in the college democrats on my campus. I have met with congressmen and legislative aids to lobby certain pieces of legislation. I've advocated for Planned Parenthood. All this amongst... Political activities on application? Help or Harm? skin abrasion from tying knots
Not to be a prima donna, but how can I reduce abrasion on my fingers after surgeries that require many knots with polyfilament sutures? It's painful, Avagard burns, and I'm afraid of dying for AIDS. I double glove. I notice this especially when doing slip knots deep in the pelvis with long-ass vicryl. I hold the suture in my left hand and tie right handed using my index fingers. The abrasion ends up being on the lateral side of the left index finger and the distal tip of the right index... skin abrasion from tying knots (Source: Student Doctor Network)

In short, school-based physical activity is valuable exercise —it aids cognitive de...

Interview Visual Aids?
I wanted to bring some visual aids to my interviews to help explain my research. I was thinking of printing out some figures or bringing an iPad. What do you guys think? Edit: I have a PhD and I am pretty sure it is the main reason I got interviews at the schools I did. So I was thinking that we would talk in more depth than usual about my research.
