FSA money
I've used almost none of my FSA money for this year and likely won't have a good use for it before 2020 rolls around. Anyone have a good first aid kit or similar emergency planning kit they would recommend? Looking for something more useful than the bags of Band-Aids and medical tape that seem to make up 99% of the kits out there. Also, any other good ideas for using the 1-2k I'm going to have sitting in there? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is hearing aid stigma a thing in medical school/admissions?
Unfortunately, my ability to hear in certain situations has been getting worse over the past few years to the point where I will be getting my first pair of hearing aids This may seem like a stupid over-thinking question, but I'm trying to determine if I should get a color that hides the aids as much as possible, or if I can safely go with a color that doesn't match my hair (nothing outlandish, btw!) On one hand, I don't care if people around me know that I wear hearing aids. I think... Is hearing aid stigma a thing in medical school/admissions? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

LIST: MCAT mnemonics and memory aids!
Mnemonics are essential to survival in med school, and I think they would be useful on the MCAT as well. Let's make a list of good MCAT mnemonics to help remember details! Some of these may be too detailed but some may actually help us remember something thats always confused us. If it works we should get a good list of mnemonics to be able to print out so we can study the ones we like for the MCAT. Just click "thread tools" at the top of the thread and then "show printable version"... LIST: MCAT mnemonics and memory aids! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Non-trad applicant working in healthcare
I'm 27, currently an epidemiologist at a hospital. My interests are in HIV/AIDS, antibiotic resistance, DR-TB, global public health etc. Many epidemiologists earn clinical degrees, and clinical degree (MD/DO/NP/PA) would allow more options for the future if my career path changes (e.g. like if in 15 years I want to work in family practice instead of public health practice). In this thread I am specifically asking about Med school. I don't know much about Admissions other than that it's very... Non-trad applicant working in healthcare (Source: Student Doctor Network)

DAT Acceptance averages going up?
Hey everyone, thought I’d open up a discussion on this and want to hear your thoughts. With the emergence of study aids like Bootcanp, do you all notice that scores such as 23-24 are becoming much more commonplace? A couple years ago when I took it a 21 was considered solid, but now it seems like everyone and their cousin is hitting a 23+ And some are even retaking DATs that are under 22. Don’t get me wrong, they’ve put in a ton of work and dedication and earned those scores. I’ve been... DAT Acceptance averages going up? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Stomach acid and Iron absorption
It says in Pathoma page 42 that the acidic environment in the stomach aids iron absorption by maintaining the Fe2+ state, which is needed for absorption. How does this occur if H+ doesn't have any electrons? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How Much Sleep Night Before DAT?
This is simply a fun thread for curiosity purposes, but the question here is: How many hours of sleep did you manage to get the night before the DAT, and do you think it affected you significantly? Plus, what advice do you have for future DAT takers? Personally, I managed to get 8+ hours of sleep with no melatonin or any sleep aids. I simply stretched, relaxed my muscles, and took a few deep breaths. Then, I listened to this while my eyes were closed and I was trying to fall asleep.... How Much Sleep Night Before DAT? Pathology Job market after residency
Hi guys I am actually very very new to the world of pathology other than I did it as a subj for my boards. I am a FMG with 250s but with a cs attempt. I was diagnosed with otosclerosis(mild/moderate) and I use hearing aids. I did my home residency in Pediatrics but due to my mild/moderate hearing issue I have applied for pathology and pediatrics this year and I have already got 8 ivs from pathology programs vs 3 ivs for pediatrics. What is the job prospect post residency for pathology? I... Pathology Job market after residency (Source: Student Doctor Network)
