Family Medicine Physician and Resident Perspectives on OTC Hearing Aids
Hi everyone, I’m a medical student in Los Angeles, California, and I am working on an IRB-approved research project to help improve hearing care! I have a short 5-10 minute RedCap survey regarding primary care physicians’ perspectives and experiences (or lack thereof) with over-the-counter hearing aids. Our study would greatly benefit from your participation! We need less than 20 more responses before we are finished with data collection so your participation would be immensely... Forensic psychiatry boards
Two months out from the forensic psychiatry boards, any advice from those who've taken it about studying? I've been pretty much relying exclusively on the review course from last year. Any other study aids or review books that I should utilize? Bit nervous since my fellowship had abysmal training and didactics so pretty much everything about forensic psychiatry I know is coming from the review course. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Looking for guidance/advice/mentorship
Hi All, Glad to be here. Hoping someone can help. I will be licensed as an HAS in FL come January. I am desperate to get comfortable testing and fitting hearing aids. I have tested in MA in the recent past, but I just need to get a refresher. I’m thinking like a script from the case history through the test results. I’m a bit rusty and just need to get reacclimatized to feel comfortable with a real-life patient. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Any suggestions on what to do if it ’s too late to take premed and also can’t afford post-bacc?
I am senior, I was planning to on delaying graduation to Spring 2023 to take pre-medicine classes for medical school. My university had said that I would qualify for federal aid still since I didn’t use all 150% of aids but I recently found out I was misinformed by the financial aid office. So, now myself a bit lost on what do next since the post-bacc programs are too expensive and I wouldn’t be able to delay my graduation. Thanks. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I just got diagnosed with this...
Hi there, I just got diagnosed with a intellectual disability diagnosis where the psychologist has requested accommodations for me including visual aids, extra time on assignments/quizzes/exams, continually speaking with a learning strategist, movement breaks, reduced testing distraction to test in a quiet low stimuli environment, etc. My psychiatrist and psychologist both approve of these accommodations, and now want to get me medicated a well known stimulant. In grad school, I got decent... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Tutoring a non-science
Hi, I am considering becoming a peer mentor (the people who run the review sessions and answer student questions via email) for a Health Science class. It's Into to Audiology, which is about the physiology of hearing, hearing aids/cochlear implants, and auditory development, especially in the context of fostering language development. I have two questions: A.) Even though I think this is something I'd enjoy, I only have so much time to allocate to ECs and have a lot of other things... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Research Topic Idea: Retrospective Analysis of Patients Treated w/ Antiretroviral Therapy and Hospitalization w/ COVID-19
I'm curious how many people will make the following question their research topic for their residency: Do patients *treated* for HIV/AIDS contract COVID-19 (are these drugs useful prophylaxis against COVID-19)? What combination is the best prophylaxis? What about PrEP? We could also put Remdesivir to rest. If anyone is in a huge hospital system that has access to this data, it could be a good paper. Searches to include diagnosis of HIV or AIDS, treatment with antiretroviral therapy, and... My ADAT experience
I gave my ADAT two weeks ago, and got my results today. Since I foraged this site for tips before I gave the exam, thought I'd share my two cents. Time I took to prepare: I gave it in the summer break after my third year. I had a little over 2 weeks, of which I seriously studied for a week at most. I tried to go over Data Interpretation (devoted around 2 days) and Biomedical Sciences(since I was very uncomfortable with the material) Study aids: ADAT Knockout- that’s what I mainly went... USC Keck vs. Tufts
I know the cycle is not done yet, but it's looking like I'm going to have to decide between these schools. My EFC is zero, so I think I'm going to get solid need-based aid from Tufts (hoping for 75% tuition) whereas Keck is notoriously known for not giving any need-based aid at all (and while merit aids are yet to be distributed, I am doubtful I will be a recipient). I'm from the east coast and I eventually want to match back to the east coast and start my life here. As for what speciality... USC Keck vs. Tufts (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Government Financial Aid Question
Hello, I am arguing with someone I know right now regarding financial aids. Please help me clarify So I have graduated from an undergraduate university recently and while I was attending it, I received financial aids from the government over the course of 4 years. This person that I know, is planning on going to med school (at least applying for one next year). However, she is on her 3rd year of undergraduate and I found out while she is eligible for financial aid from the government... Government Financial Aid Question (Source: Student Doctor Network)
