Prevention of Hepatorenal Insufficiency Associated with Lead Exposure by < em > Hibiscus sabdariffa < /em > L. Beverages Using In Vivo Assay
Biomed Res Int. 2022 Feb 10;2022:7990129. doi: 10.1155/2022/7990129. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTLead pollution is a major environmental challenge worldwide. Therefore, dietary interventions that are aimed at preventing lead's deleterious effects on body organs are needed. The study's goal was to study and compare the protective effect of cold and hot beverages of Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) red calyces (CRB and HRB, respectively) on liver and kidney insufficiency associated with lead exposure in male rats. Adult albino rats (32 males) were divided into four groups of equal number, including a normal control (group 1), w...

Antimicrobial effect of Red Roselle (Hibiscus Sabdariffa) against different types of oral bacteria
This study aimed to compare the antimicrobial effect of an aqueous extract Red Roselle calyx (RE), Chlorhexidine (CH), Amoxicillin-clavulanic acid (ACA), Tetracycline (Tet), and Metronidazole (Met)on Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans), Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) bacteria. The bacterial inhibition zones (BIZ)of the RE (25, 50, 75, 100) mg/ml and CH solutions (0.2%, 2%) were determined using the agar well diffusion method. Additionally, the susceptibility of the tested bacteria against (30 μg) of standard antibiotics of ACA, Tet, and Met was examined. The bacterial minimum inhibi...
