Persistence of hepatitis E virus (HEV) subtypes 3c and 3e: Long-term cold storage and heat treatments
Food Microbiol. 2024 Aug;121:104529. doi: 10.1016/j.fm.2024.104529. Epub 2024 Mar 30.ABSTRACTHepatitis E virus (HEV) is the causative agent of foodborne infections occurring in high income countries mainly by consumption of undercooked and raw pork products. The virus is zoonotic with pigs and wild boars as the main reservoirs. Several studies proved the presence of HEV-RNA in pork liver sausages, pâté and other pork by-products. However, the detection of HEV nucleic acids does not necessary correspond to infectious virus and information on the persistence of the virus in the food is still limited. To which extent and ho...

Injection network drivers of HIV prevention service utilization among people who inject drugs: results of a community-based sociometric network cohort in New Delhi, India
CONCLUSIONS: We found differential associative relationships between individual HIV prevention service engagement and the health or risk behaviours of direct and indirect alters. Characterizing network exposure beyond direct injecting partnerships provided important context on possible mechanisms of behavioural influence. Findings could be leveraged to design peer-based interventions that promote network diffusion of health-seeking behaviours.PMID:38632848 | PMC:PMC11024448 | DOI:10.1002/jia2.26241 (Source: Journal of the International AIDS Society)

MTHFR and MTRR gene polymorphisms in patients with chronic hepatitis B virus infections in Zigong, Sichuan Province
CONCLUSION: The distributions of MTHFR and MRRR genetic polymorphisms in the population with HBV infections in Zigong, Sichuan Province did not differ in age and sex. The MTHFR and MRRR genetic polymorphisms were comparable between the CHB, LC, and PLC groups.PMID:38634541 | DOI:10.1080/03014460.2024.2330926 (Source: Annals of Human Biology)
