UMass Vs Cincinnati vs MCG
Hello! As the cycle is coming to an end this year I've narrowed my choices down to three schools and would love to hear some opinions about which may be the best choice. I am a lifelong Georgia resident with my parents living in the Atlanta area. I'm currently unsure of my specialty interests but I have ruled out FM/EM/Peds. As a student, I hope to have research as a big part of my medical education and am looking to go to a school that will give me the highest odds of matching into a... Opposition to Proposed CACREP Mandate in Georgia
A bill was just introduced in Georgia that would make graduates from five Master's programs in the state unable to become licensed as Professional Counselors. This bill would do two major things. First, it would ban anyone who doesn't have a degree from a CACREP program from becoming licensed as a Counselor, and second it would allow LPCs to perform any kind of psychological testing, including neuropsychological and forensic assessments. As many of you all know, CACREP bans Psychologists... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cannabis
Georgia has 5% THC tincture for those with cannabis cards. This was rolled out summer '23. I've had...I think 3...pts show up and disclose to me they got a card from their PCP and they've tried it. None have benefitted, and one actually ended up having to be physically carried out of a Cracker Barrel and put into his car by the restaurant staff bc he couldn't move. Literally stuck to the dinner table (80 yo man BTW). I just realized today that cannabis is not on the state's PDMP site... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Another new school …
The Governor of Georgia is seeking to push a dental school at Georgia Southern University. It seems that since most dentists aren’t taking Medicaid, the solution is to build a school and have students that are working for free treat this patient population. Thoughts? MCG vs. Wake Forest
I’ve been accepted into 2 of my top programs and I’m trying to think ahead regarding where to attend. My specialty interest is ortho so I’d like to be in the best position to get a good residency. I've started to lean towards Wake following my interview, but I'm finding it difficult to justify paying double the tuition over my public in state school.
