Pyridinium-Yne Click Polymerization: A Facile Strategy toward Functional Poly(Vinylpyridinium Salt)s with Multidrug-Resistant Bacteria Killing Ability
In this study, we demonstrate a simple and efficient strategy for synthesizing functional poly(vinylpyridinium salt)s via pyridinium-yne click polymerization. This click polymerization could proceed with high atom economy under mild conditions without any external catalyst, yielding soluble and thermally stable poly(vinylpyridinium salt)s with satisfactory molecular weights and well-defined structures in excellent yields. Additionally, the incorporation of luminescent units such as fluorene, tetraphenylethylene, and triphenylamine into the polymer backbone confers excellent aggregation-enhanced emission properties upon the...

High potential extracts from cocoa byproducts through sonotrode optimal extraction and a comprehensive characterization
Ultrason Sonochem. 2024 Apr 26;106:106887. doi: 10.1016/j.ultsonch.2024.106887. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCocoa pod husk (CPH) and cocoa bean shell (CBS) are by-products obtained during pre-processing and processing of cocoa beans. Several bioactive compounds have been identified in these by-products that can be used for commercial applications as a way to promote the circular economy. Therefore, the objective of this paper was to recover bioactive compounds from CPH and CBS by sonoextraction process, to determine the type, content, and antioxidant activity in optimized extracts. To achieve our purpose, an optimization...

Synthesis of solid sodium silicate from waste glass and utilization on one-part alkali-activated materials based on spent oil filtering earth
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2024 May 2. doi: 10.1007/s11356-024-33368-w. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAlkali activated materials (AAMs) commonly known as geopolymers are considered ecofriendly substitutes for Portland cement. However, these materials still have a significant environmental impact, owing mainly to the use of activators based on commercial chemical products. In this sense, this research focuses on the production and use of waste glass-derived activators AAMs as an alternative to commercial activators. Using a thermochemical synthesis method, activator compositions were systematically designed to achieve pred...

Research on the trajectory and influential factors of poly-victimization: A longitudinal study of Chinese adolescents
CONCLUSION: We identified three poly-victimization trajectories, highlighting a significant heterogeneity in poly-victimization development. Understanding the characteristics of these developmental trajectories is crucial for realizing the dynamics of different poly-victimization subgroups and informing effective interventions.PMID:38696954 | DOI:10.1016/j.chiabu.2024.106812 (Source: Child Abuse and Neglect)

Mechanisms of efficient indoor formaldehyde removal via electro-Fenton: synergy in ·OH generation and utilization through a modified carbon cathode
Environ Pollut. 2024 Apr 30:124090. doi: 10.1016/j.envpol.2024.124090. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIndoor formaldehyde poses a significant carcinogenic risk to human health, making its removal imperative. Electro-Fenton degradation has emerged as a promising technology for addressing this concern. In the electro-Fenton system, ·OH is identified as the primary active species responsible for formaldehyde removal. Hence, its generation and utilization are pivotal for the system's effectiveness and economy. Experimental and quantum chemical methods were employed to investigate the effects and mechanisms of nitrogen doping o...
