< em > 'If we take the engine out, how will the car go?': < /em > beliefs, understanding and access to vasectomy services in Timor-Leste
Cult Health Sex. 2024 Apr 18:1-17. doi: 10.1080/13691058.2024.2341847. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTVasectomy is a safe, highly effective and affordable method of permanent contraception, and one of the few currently available contraceptive methods for men. Despite this, vasectomy uptake remains overall low, making up just 2% of the global contraceptive method mix. To better understand access to vasectomy in a country with negligible uptake, we conducted participatory and operational research in the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (Timor-Leste). We held 14 participatory group discussions with 175 community participants...

Analyzing the impact of an MDG-Fund program on childhood malnutrition in Timor-Leste
CONCLUSIONS: The findings reinforce the pressing need for integrated and cross-sectoral programs, aimed especially at agricultural workers, mothers, and children. The agricultural challenge is to sustainably select, produce and conserve higher-yield and nutrient-rich crops, and educational enhancement should be aligned with local practices and research.PMID:38576057 | DOI:10.1186/s41043-024-00539-x (Source: Journal of Health, Population, and Nutrition)

Leveraging seasonal influenza health worker vaccination programmes for COVID-19 vaccine Introduction: A global qualitative analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest a strong justification for enhanced investment in vaccination of health workers, particularly against seasonal influenza, through country-wide programmes as a foundation for pandemic preparedness and response.PMID:38531724 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.12.044 (Source: Vaccine)

Source emission contributions to particulate matter and ozone, and their health impacts in Southeast Asia
Environ Int. 2024 Mar 18;186:108578. doi: 10.1016/j.envint.2024.108578. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSoutheast Asia has been experiencing severe air pollution due to its substantial local emissions and transboundary air pollution (TAP), causing significant health impacts. While literature focused on air pollution episodes in Southeast Asia, we have yet to fully understand the contributions of local emission sectors and TAP to air quality in the region annually. Herein we employed air quality modeling with the species tagging method to first assess the contributions of source sectors and locations to fine particulate matte...
