Solo dermpath - total # of biopsies per year?
Generally speaking, how many biopsies per year are necessary to keep a private practice solo dermpath busy? For example, if a solo dermpath wanted to do path 3 full days a week, how many biopsies would a private practice derm group need to provide for that type of work? I guess another important question is, on average about how many cases does a PP dermpath typically do per day? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Prevention of Hand Dermatitis in Surgery/Procedural Specialties
I am not a surgeon. I am a rising interventional cardiology fellow. I have mild chronic atopic dermatitis, nowadays mostly confined to my hands. We mostly use alcohol-based solution (Sterillium) and non-latex gloves. I have noticed lately as I do more cases, I have started to develop some dermatitis on my hands. There isn't too much about this topic online, a limited thread from a while ago, and I suspect that this is a fairly common issue particularly given the harsher scrubs you guys use... Proper PLS logging
I could use some wisdom on proper logging for this procedure in PLS: Performed cheilectomy and implanted arthroflex graft over metatarsal head which is anchored into bone. This is the technique guide: https://www.arthrex.com/es/recursos...arthroplasty-with-arthroflex-dermal-allograft Unsure if I should be logging just cheilectomy or if this is sufficient for implant. Thank you all for your wisdom. If anyone wants to we can keep this thread open for... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

advice on how to study/start studying for mcat during gap years?
Hi, I’m a recent grad of ‘23 back in May and am currently taking two gap years to save up money + strengthen my application due to my low GPA. I currently work 45 hours a week as a medical assistant at a dermatology clinic and will be working for about a year since it’s two of the practices I’m interested in, the other being gastroenterology. I’m trying to take the MCAT in April to see what my baseline and then adjust my next steps (post bac and possible MPH) would be but I’m so... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Experimental technique to thin out thick nasal tip skin - using tattoo equipment (MMP) to instill triamcinolone
I was thinking about possible ways to thin the skin of the nasal tip in preparation for or after a rhinoplasty. Why don't we investigate the administration of triamcinolone to bulbous regions of thick nasal tip skin using tattoo equipment? It seems this might work because it would reach the dermis only. Microdosing would reduce risk of irregular skin atrophy/dents. Has been successfully tried for alopecia areata in study. It did not harm the skin. Doi: 10.1159/000506314 What are your... Dermatology PSTPs
I have recently started shadowing dermatology and was surprised to find myself really enjoying it. However, my school doesn’t have a home program and talking to some MD only colleagues who applied/matched, these are incredibly competitive. My research is computational/AI stuff that can easily be applied to derm but the disease context I’m looking at is very different. I was wondering if people had any advice as to how to proceed to maximize my chances of matching? Should I try for clinical... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Dermpath Salary as new graduate
Do any recent graduates from fellowship have a ballpark range on what people are offering or what they asked for when negotiating. My question is more for those who have elected to do 100% dermatopathology slide sign out (case load around 75-100 a day). (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MCG Campus Pick: Augusta vs. Athens vs. Savannah
I recently got accepted to MCG Early Decision and I got an email approaching me about my campus preference. I need help deciding which campus would suit me best. I'm keeping an open mind about what kind of specialty I'm interested in, but I want to keep my options open if I possibly want to pursue competitive specialties like Dermatology, ENT, IR, etc. I think I lean towards academic medicine rather than community medicine. Here's the pros and cons i've gathered about the 3 campuses... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
