Potential cognitive and neural benefits of a computerised cognitive training programme based on Structure Learning in healthy adults: study protocol for a randomised controlled trial
We reported the development of a novel training programme based on Structure Learning that aims to hone a general learning ability to potentially achieve extensive transfer benefits across various cognitive constructs. Potential transfer benefits can be exhibited through better performance in outcome measures between Training and Control participants, and positive associations between training performance and outcomes after the training in Training participants. Moreover, we attempt to substantiate behavioural findings with evidence of neural changes across different imaging modalities by the Structure Learning training.Tr...

Study on self-management of real-time and individualized support in stroke patients based on resilience: a protocol for a randomized controlled trial
This study uses a randomized controlled trial design to assess the efficacy of using wearable technology to realize real-time and individualized self-management support in stroke patients ’ self-management behavior during the transitional period following discharge from hospital.MethodsThis parallel-group randomized controlled trial will be conducted in two hospitals and patients ’ homes. A total of 183 adult stroke patients will be enrolled in the study and randomly assigned to three groups in a 1:1:1 ratio. The smartwatch intervention group (n = 61) will receive Real-time and Individualized Self-management Suppor...

Effect of 12-week intermittent calorie restriction compared to standard of care in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease: a randomized controlled trial
DiscussionThis FLICR study may provide clinical evidence on ICR in the treatment of NAFLD in both obese and non-obese patients. The use of ICR in patients with NAFLD will improve the clinical outcomes of patients facing a shortage of effective medical therapy.Trial registrationThis trial was registered at the United States National Library of Medicine (NLM) at the National Institutes of Health. ClinicalTrials.gov NCT05309642. Registered on April 4, 2022. (Source: Trials)

Assisted ambulation to improve health outcomes for older medical inpatients (AMBULATE): study protocol for a randomized controlled trial
DiscussionWhile functional decline in the hospital is multifactorial, ambulation is a modifiable factor for many patients. The AMBULATE study will be the largest randomized controlled trial to test the clinical effects of dedicating a single care team member to facilitating mobility for older hospitalized patients. It will also provide a useful estimation of cost implications to help hospital administrators assess the feasibility and utility of employing MTs.Trial registrationRegistered in the United States National Library of Medicine clinicaltrials.gov (# NCT05725928).
