Fetal transposition of the great arteries: 3D virtual and physical models from ultrasound datasets
AbstractTransposition of the great arteries (TGA) is a cyanotic congenital heart disease characterized by ventriculoarterial discordance and atrioventricular concordance with the great arteries in a parallel relationship. Prenatal diagnosis of TGA has implications for postnatal outcomes, allowing for planned delivery and perinatal management. Three-dimensional virtual or physical models of fetal TGA allow better understanding of fetal cardiac anomalies by parents and interactive discussion among the multidisciplinary team (obstetricians, pediatricians, maternal-fetal specialists, pediatric cardiologists, and cardiovascular...

Implementation of an antimicrobial stewardship program for urinary tract infections in long-term care facilities: a cluster-controlled intervention study
ConclusionsAn antimicrobial stewardship program consisting of practice guidelines, local and web-based education for nursing staff and general practitioners resulted in a significant increase in adequate treatments (in terms of decision to treat the UTI) during the intervention period. However, this difference was not maintained in the post-intervention phase. Continued efforts to improve the quality of prescriptions further are necessary.Trial registrationThe trial was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov NCT04798365. The conflicts of Ray Adams and Joe Foley with Abe Baker: The neurology and neuropathology of liver failure (1949-1963) and the founding of the American Academy of Neurology (1948)
This article examines disagreements among three giants of twentieth-century American neurology: Raymond Adams, Joseph Foley, and Abraham Baker. The disagreements Adams and Foley had with Baker concerned two issues: (1) the neurologic and neuropathological manifestations of liver failure with hepatic encephalopathy as expounded from the late 1940s to the early 1960s, and (2) the founding of the American Academy of Neurology in 1948 as an inclusive medical society under the principal leadership of Baker. The conflicts are examined from transcribed meeting debates (1949-1963), salient original publications (1949-1963), public...

Redefining the Role of Medical Affairs Professionals as Innovators and Leaders in Industry-Led Medical Education
AbstractMedical affairs professionals are pivotal players at the intersection of medical innovation and practice in the pharmaceutical industry. They are uniquely positioned to translate complex medical knowledge into actionable insights for internal and external stakeholders. Industry-led continuing medical education (CME) programs, guided by these professionals, hold the potential to markedly improve clinicians ’ application of evidence-based medicine (EBM) in clinical settings, thereby elevating patient care outcomes. However, current CME techniques often overlook the integration of diverse disciplines such as educati...
