Does your ethnicity influence your application?
Hello, So I am wondering how much your ethnicity and cultural background influences the strength of your application. I have heard from people that it gives you an advantage, is that true? And if so, how much of an advantage? For example, I am of Latin origin and first of my family to get a degree. I got a 3.98 GPA in college and did research. I have done extensive community service, volunteer work (hospice), and shadowing. I am also going to help out with a clinical trial. The only... Does your ethnicity influence your application? Accept CNUCOM or Reapply
Hey guys, A few days ago, I got an acceptance letter from CNUCOM (Califronia Northstate School of Medicine) after getting off the waitlist and have since been considering whether to accept or apply again next year. Yesterday, I was offered a job that would allow me to work with patients by coordinating clinical trials and write papers. Two things which I believe were sorely lacking on my prior application and which could greatly increase my application success. I had a 3.46 GPA from... Should we trust INR testing?
We read with interest the recent BMJ editorial “Rivaroxaban:Can we trust the evidence”.1 which questions the conclusions from the ROCKET AF clinical trial on Rivaroxaban 2. Cohen raises questions about the accuracy of the INRs used for monitoring patients in the warfarin control arm and suggests that they may have compromised the validity of the published conclusions. The ROCKET investigators have defended their conclusions after re assessing the data in light of these concerns 3. The device used for INR testing in the warfarin control arm was not identified in the original publication but subsequen...

Does the "prominence" of your LOR writer matter at all?
There is a doctor I have shadowed for around 75 total hours over the past year - about 30 Wednesday mornings for 2-4 hours per morning. I also worked with him for the previous 2 years as he is an investigator on the clinical trials that I work on as a CRC/regulatory coordinator, and I have had the opportunity to grab lunch with him a few times to pick his brain about medicine and such. Overall I would say this doc has been a great mentor and some of my experiences with him have really been... Does the "prominence" of your LOR writer matter at all? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
