Extreme —Super obesity and panniculectomy: bipolar radiofrequency scalpel assisted surgery as a valuable option for the most challenging cases
ConclusionsBRS assisted panniculectomy with minimal undermining is a valuable option for patients with extreme or super obesity. At the time of dissection, minimizing undermining and using BRS could make the operation safer and therefore extendable to a larger cohort of patients.Level of evidence: Level IV, Therapeutic; Risk/Prognostic. Development of an evidence-based diagnostic algorithm for infection in patients with transcutaneous osseointegration following amputation
Conclusions: This seminal investigation to develop a preoperative diagnostic algorithm for peri-TOFA infection suggests that the clinical examination remains paramount. Further evaluation of a wider spectrum of clinical, laboratory, and imaging data, consistently and routinely collected with prospective data techniques in larger cohorts of patients, is necessary to create a robust predictive algorithm.PMID:38600998 | PMC:PMC11002918 | DOI:10.5194/jbji-9-49-2024 (Source: Pain Physician)

Acute Paraplegia Caused by Spinal Epidural Empyema Following Infectious Cellulitis of the Hand: Case Report and Literature Review
Conclusion Spinal epidural abscess is often underdiagnosed, which can lead to delays in treatment and serious complications. The relationship between cellulitis and spinal epidural abscess may be related to the spread of infection through the lymphatic or blood system.PMID:38596232 | PMC:PMC11001457 | DOI:10.1055/a-2267-1810 (Source: Hand Surgery)

Surgical Treatment for Primary Lymphedema: A Systematic Review of the Literature
Arch Plast Surg. 2024 Apr 8;51(2):212-233. doi: 10.1055/a-2253-9859. eCollection 2024 Mar.ABSTRACTThis is a retrospective review of surgical management for primary lymphedema. Data were extracted from 55 articles from PubMed MEDLINE, Web of Science, SCOPUS, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials between the database inception and December 2022 to evaluate the outcomes of lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) and vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT), and outcomes of soft tissue extirpative procedures such as suction-assisted lipectomy (SAL) and extensive soft tissue excision. Data from 485 patients were compiled...
