Mass Relapse Prevention to Reduce Transmission of Plasmodium vivax-A Systematic Review
Am J Trop Med Hyg. 2023 Dec 20:tpmd220727. doi: 10.4269/ajtmh.22-0727. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSeveral temperate countries have used mass chemoprevention interventions with medicines of the 8-aminoquinoline class that prevent relapses from Plasmodium vivax before peak transmission to reduce transmission of malaria. The WHO commissioned a systematic review of the literature and evidence synthesis to inform development of recommendations regarding this intervention referred to as "mass relapse prevention" (MRP). Electronic databases were searched, 866 articles screened, and 25 assessed for eligibility after a full-text...

Comparing the genetic typing methods for effective surveillance and rabies control in Georgia
A full nucleoprotein gene sequencing of 68 isolates collected from passive rabies surveillance system in Georgia between 2015 and 2016 identified two distinct dog rabies phylogroups, GEO_V1 and GEO_V2, which both belonged to the cosmopolitan dog clade. GEO_V1 was found throughout the country and was further divided into four sub-phylogroups that overlapped geographically; GEO_V2 was found in the southeast region and was closely related to dog rabies in Azerbaijan. A sequence analysis of the full N gene, partial nucleoprotein gene of N-terminal and C-terminal, and the amplicon sequences of pan-lyssavirus RT-qPCR LN34 showed...

Seroprevalence of brucellosis in livestock in Iran: a meta-analysis
AbstractThe main target of the current investigation was to estimate the overall seroprevalence rate of brucellosis in Iranian livestock (sheep, goats, and cattle) using a meta-analysis of available documents. In this review, different electronic databases were searched for the relevant studies published until January 2022, about the seroprevalence of brucellosis in animals in Iran. A chi-squared test and also a random effect model (REM) were used to determine the heterogeneity of studies and to estimate the pooled seroprevalence among subgroups, respectively. The overall seroprevalence of brucellosis was 3%, 4%, and 5% in...

A novel evolutionary combination of artificial intelligence algorithm and machine learning for landslide susceptibility mapping in the west of Iran
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Nov 21. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-30762-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDetecting and mapping landslides are crucial for effective risk management and planning. With the great progress achieved in applying optimized and hybrid methods, it is necessary to use them to increase the accuracy of landslide susceptibility maps. Therefore, this research aims to compare the accuracy of the novel evolutionary methods of landslide susceptibility mapping. To achieve this, a unique method that integrates two techniques from Machine Learning and Neural Networks with novel geomorphological indices is used ...

The Association between Diet and Multiple Sclerosis
CONCLUSION: The results suggest that fruit consumption under the age of 15 may be a protective factoragainst MS, while the consumption of fat, high-fat dairy, fast food, soybean, sausages and kielbasa, pickles, leftover food, meat, sweets, sauce, and fizzy drinks under the age of 15, maybe risk factors for MS.PMID:37933212 | DOI:10.2174/0118715303247891231023070031 (Source: Endocrine, Metabolic and Immune Disorders Drug Targets)
