Warding off asthma attacks with a drink?
OK, I am NOT advocating the alcoholic type here, especially since it gives me gout! What I am talking about is drinking a super-chilled drink slowly through a straw when I feel the tightness of asthma coming on. Even something simple as ice water helps a lot. Amazingly, it seems to numb the nerve responsible for causing uncontrollable dry hacking for me. I have to sip slowly and really get the fluid to the back of my throat, then swallow slowly. A caffinated and carbonated cold drink seems the best for putting an attack on the back burner. If I am in a public situation or in a car, it least it buys me some time. Anyone e...

2% Bactroban as nasal rinse
I saw a sinus specialist at Hopkins today who works with CF patients. I still have no diagnosis; the adult CF clinic sent me to her as they don't think I have CF. I was using pulmicort in my nose for the last month and today she switched to bactorban 2% mixed in a neil med solution, twice a day. I keep getting green drainage (specks, dried up muscus) My sinus scan looked pretty good after a month of levaquin and pulmicort. Anybody ever used this stuff in their nose? My first surgery didnt heal correctly (different doctor) amd may be the problem. However she went into the this is respiratory, my PFV was 78, which she call...

I was wondering at what age folks added supplements to their infant's diet. I've upped my vitamin intake, take fish oil and probiotics in hopes that this will pass to my baby via breastmilk. I would like to add fish oil and probiotics to her diet but have been cautioned by the CF team about aspiration. Are there folks out their supplementing their infant's diet? Young children with asthma, adult with CF, cross contamination
My husband (age 24) has cystic fibrosis. We are looking into adopting children from foster care. Some of the children have severe asthma. My husband has had a positive sputum test for PA once years ago but his infection must not be real bad because the sputum tests since then have come back negative. I was wondering if the bugs my husband harbors and may harbor in the future would harm toddlers with severe asthma. Would a different home be better for them? We aren't adopting children yet, just looking through profiles and talking about what would be the best match for our family. My husband is relatively healthy f...
