Correlation and prediction of arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide from venous umbilical blood gases
CONCLUSIONS: pCO < sub > 2(UVBG) < /sub > correlates with and can predict pCO < sub > 2(UABG) < /sub > . Therefore, pCO < sub > 2(UVBG) < /sub > can be applied to pCO < sub > 2(UABG) < /sub > in neonates for whom UAC insertion is unsuccessful or to avoid an arterial puncture.PMID:35286034 | DOI:10.24953/turkjped.2021.619 (Source: The Turkish Journal of Pediatrics)

Peripheral venous lactate levels substitute arterial lactate levels in the emergency department
ConclusionsThis study revealed that PVL and AL levels in the same critically ill patients did not perfectly agree with each other but were strongly correlated. Furthermore, the high accuracy for predicting AL ranges from PVL levels explains why PVL levels could be used as a substitute for AL level ranges. Axillary vein catheterization using ultrasound guidance: A prospective randomized cross-over controlled simulation comparing standard ultrasound and new needle-pilot device
CONCLUSIONS: In a simulation model, US-guided axillary vein catheterization with a needle-pilot device was associated with a shorter time of successful cannulation and a decrease in numbers of skin punctures and complications. The results plea for investigating clinical performance of this new device.PMID:34965763 | DOI:10.1177/11297298211063705 (Source: The Journal of Vascular Access)

To Explore the Haemostatic Effect of Compression Haemostasis Using an Ultrasonic Probe under the Guidance of Ultrasound after Radial Artery Puncture
CONCLUSION: The method using an ultrasound probe to guide radial artery compression to haemostasis is better than traditional manual compression when applied for compression haemostasis after removing the radial artery catheter.PMID:34900029 | PMC:PMC8654528 | DOI:10.1155/2021/7423101 (Source: Disease Markers)

Effectiveness of lidocaine spray on radial arterial puncture pain: A randomized double-blind placebo controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: The level of pain perceived during radial arterial puncture was significantly lower in those who were administered lidocaine spray. Lidocaine spray application can be used in pain management related to radial arterial puncture.PMID:34879493 | DOI:10.1016/j.ajem.2021.09.077 (Source: Pain Physician)

Modeling the Impact of Prehospital Triage on a True-Life Drip and Ship Mechanical Thrombectomy Urban Patient Cohort
Conclusions: Modeled EMS prehospital triage of ELVO patients ’ results in shorter MT times without a change in thrombolysis times. As triage tools increase in sensitivity and specificity, EMS triage protocols stand to improve patient outcomes.Cerebrovasc Dis Extra 2021;11:137 –144 (Source: Cerebrovascular Diseases Extra)

Ultrasound-guided, long-axis, in-plane, infraclavicular axillary vein cannulation: A 6-year experience
CONCLUSIONS: The US-guided axillary central venous cannulation (CVC) access technique can be undertaken successfully in patients, even in challenging circumstances. Taken together with existing work on the utility and safety of this technique, we suggest that it should be adopted more widely in clinical practice.PMID:34727764 | DOI:10.1177/11297298211054629 (Source: The Journal of Vascular Access)

Ultrasound-guided access to the axillary vein for implantation of cardiac implantable electronic devices: A systematic review and meta-analysis
In conclusions we found that the US-guided axillary venipuncture for CIEDs implantation was associated with a low incidence of early and late complications and a steep learning curve.PMID:34724839 | DOI:10.1177/11297298211054621 (Source: The Journal of Vascular Access)
