Evaluation of cancer stem cell marker, bmi-1 expression in oral submucous fibrosis with and without malignant transformation
Epithelial-mesenchymal transition plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) as well as in progression of carcinogenesis while inducing stem-like properties in epithelial cells. Hence, it is important to discover possibilities of using stem cell markers to predict malignant transformation (MT) in OSF.
