In Regard to Parry et al
The study by Parry et al1 addressed the impact of whole pelvic radiation therapy (WPRT) on patient-reported outcomes (PROMs) in high-risk prostate cancer using information from a national prostate cancer database. No clinically meaningful difference in the PROMs was reported between WPRT and prostate-only radiation the rapy (PORT). They also suggest that “results from studies using clinician reported outcome measures are in line with studies using PROMs.” We would like to highlight 2 recent randomized trials that have used PROMs and physician-reported toxicity to compare PORT and WPRT, which were surprisingly missing from their discussion.
